mine can touch 140kmh prolly... heh.. slow machine.. but its very comfy as compared to all my other rides... so it doesnt matter even if i cant speed with it..

 

but can anyone clarify if i install a revtec, would it help in any sense at all? has any bros tried and benefited from it? would grouding also reduce the vibrations of the bike?

 

what other internals are essential to this bike?

 

pls advice... new to this bike.... heh

hi guys, i'm currently riding a phantom and kinda like shadow... was wondering if there's a thread or page which shows all e repair/maintenance costs for shadow? just like e thread for PK. cause it would be very informative for noob like me to c how much would be needed to well maintain a shadow.

 

just asking only. if there isnt any, i guess just have to slowly learn.

Shadow 400 riders, need help..the battery used for our bikes is it 12V 9amp?my bike recently batt went dead had to push start,very very tiring.checked battery was Yuasa YTX9-BS(12V9 AMp).. Thought of changing battery.. Was wondering the new technology Turntech 12V battery 2.5-3amp (or any other brands with the same amphere)is sufficient enough for our bikes?

deadpool_lives: my advise would be to get a mechanic to recommend and suggest. You're battery now is just flat. It's time is up. So it really wouldn't make a diff if you change to a battery with a higher amp. Maybe just means you can put in an extra set of auxiliary lights or can charge more than one handphone. Lower amp definitely cannot cos your bike's own electronics like starters and headlights, signal lights etc all need a certain amount of ampere to run. Your manual should state how much you need.

 

Most of our electronics, or rather mine and I'm guessing yours is limited to just bare basics, so best not to mess around with it least our bikes fry half way while riding. Hee.

 

Do check on an extra thing when you're at a shop. Your charging coil etc. Unless your battery is very old. It should last pretty long.

 

Rosli at Kaki Bukit Autobay 6 is pretty good with cruisers.

hi armani123sg. Actually, most of the advice and repair/maintenance costs for Shadow is spewed all over this thread. I guess it slowly turns into a talk kok session after awhile like most threads (hee) so you'll have to go thru every page just to pick up a few tips here and there. But it just means you'll get to know a bit of the background and slowly grow closer to the Shadow community.

You can consider getting a customized sissy bar made from Seng Kwang. Those available in the market now are either meant for Phantom or Steed model.

Majority of the cruisers above 750cc version are able to reach speed you mentioned.

I believe you will be surprise with what is contain in the revtec. Perhaps a search for Strong Eagle postings in the forum will help to answer your query. As for grounding, you can perform a quick search on the internet on the purpose of grounding. I won't say it helps in reducing vibration but it has its own benefit though.

 

I believe all stock motorcycles are already best built for what is essential to get one onto the road thus, other than alarm, I can't think of any other additional internal accessories you need to install.

hit 90 still ok but frm there upwards need to rev a bit more lei n bike hnadle bar starts to vibrate..

Check steering cone. You need to drag gear to hit higher speeds. Can go 120 easily and hit 140.

Go get second opinion regarding bike condition. Go see a relatively knowledgeble mech. It can be many reasons causing the vibration. .. only teh Dr knows ..

steering cone got affect one? thought only affect the steering... wahahahaha.

anyway, i change gear as soon as possible so maybe that is y cannot hit 100km/h. hahahah

 

will try to drag gear n clr out the carbon deposit... as the last owner (almost 50 +uncle) never lut the bike as maybe the carbon deposit gao gao inside the exhaust. wahahahah....

No la. hahaha. Steering cone is like your contact between your handle bar and your bike. If it's not in a good condition, besides your steering being affected, like you cann't turn properly etc, at a certain speed, it doesn't "hold" your handle bar properly and thus you get vibrations. Then all you'll need is a small pebble and you'll fly. Whee!

 

Actually no need to drag also can hit the speed. Just harder and slower. But dragging makes it easier.

 

Do check other stuff too. Carb washed right? Spark plug, engine oil, air and oil filter etc also must check. All plays a small part but when all adds up, it makes a difference. Also check things like your chain, rear sprocket, front sprocker, clutch etc. The list goes on. You can either one shot whack everything, or do a bit, test, a bit test. Former is faster but more ex. Latter slower but you'll get to learn what's wrong with your bike.

 

You can try Rosli at Auto Bay #02-49 or 45. I can't member. It's the 2nd last bike shop on the right when you go thru the whole row of bike shops. He's pretty good with Shadows and bikes for that matter. Last time my Shadow also like 100-110km.h only. After he cleaned up the stuff, can do 120km/h easily. 140 if I had the balls. But back then I didn't. Still seedlings then. hurrrr... Now also quite small la. Seed only, no lings. whahahaha
