Minister faces child porn rap

Provided/Dorchester County Sheriff's OfficeKevin Powers A Summerville man — who is a minister, according to his wife — was indicted last week on child pornography charges.

The July 15 indictment stems from a March 30 incident in which the man’s wife reportedly attacked him after she caught him looking at the illicit images.

 

Kevin Jerome Powers, 47, is charged with both possession and receipt of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Walt Wilkins said. The indictment alleges Powers knowingly possessed a computer, computer disks and other materials containing images of child pornography that had been mailed, shipped and transported in interstate commerce.

 

If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

 

Powers’ wife told Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies March 30 that her husband was a state-licensed minister and “had been investigated for this type of incident before,” an incident report says. It’s unclear whether Powers is in fact an ordained minister or affiliated with a particular church.

 

When deputies first responded to the couple’s Logan Drive home, Powers’ wife told them, “she was actively trying to get a knife so she could kill” him, the report says.

 

Powers was found in a back bedroom. He confirmed the death threat and said his wife also hit him several times, leaving red marks on his face and neck.

 

Powers said his wife caught him, “looking at porn on the computer,” the report says.

 

A deputy asked what type of pornography and Powers reportedly said, “underage.”

jus came back from cameron and penang... tried d Gurney drive fried kuay teow ..freakin long Q...tot oni Sgpore has Q for food?? den tried d Three Sisters fried kuay teow... also had fish head curry...and some durians...but not in season ..

 

wanted to buy tau sar piah but d famous him heang stores wer raided empty but d holiday crowds..

 

Dinosuar, suggest u can go by exit Yong Peng. go along Gemas road..den head up to Seremban... ther is a exiting stretch of twisty road from kuala pilah to seremban...

 

Gemas is a sleepy old town wif train stop..can take some pics
