In the past my twin was hovering around 20-21 km per litre. A few months back, I sent my bike for some repairs and since I am taking down my tank and etc, the mechanic ask me if I want to clean the carburretor. Since I have never clean the carburretor for 9 years, I thought this might be a good idea even though I vaguely remember an advised not to touch the carburretor.

Right now the comsumption has dropped to 17km per litre. Is the high compustion due to the carburretor or the petrol as claimed by the mechanic that nowadays the petrol evaporates very fast?

My travelling pattern has not changed for the past 4 years as I mainly used the bike for work. It is 70% highway usage. Appreciate your help.

Get a reliable mech to tune back the carb; most likely out of sync. Should solve the problems then. Good luck!

Tell the mech if he wants to b u l l s h i t, find a better excuse lah....

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Something , somewhere just sounds wrong ... I think he tuned your carburetor to run rich ... Not a malpractice from a mechanical point of view but inethical ... He should have asked you first right ?

I have the AT for more than 9 years and the mileage has been very very consistent as the riding habits and pattern has not changed much. So I know their excuse is very defensive and rubbish but, I did not want to argue with them.

Anyway, I am not sure if it is nice to reveal the workshop in a public forum. If you want to know, you can PM me.
