Nothing but ron98 for my bike. But for my scooter, since it does 28km/litre on 92 and 29km/litre on 95, doesn't make a difference which one I pump, so I pump 95 anyway.

Everymorning, whenever I filter past 1000 stationary cars stuck in heavy traffic, I smile and tell myself petrol cost is only a small price to pay for convenience.

well for me 98 and 95 does really make a diff. wat bike u ridin?

95 fares better than 98 in total mileage for my cbr150. Can feel that slight difference in acceleration for 98 but since I don't ride more than 100km/h, no point.

I did the math :D. My 2B 10l full tank can go up to 400km. My XJR400 can go up to 400km also but it takes 20l to get there. Unless I go JB pump every time, pump in SG can die liao. Plus going to be student again, can't survive lar in the long run.:cry:

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

What grade is the non premium malaysian petrol? RON91 i believe. Good enough for my work bike, the Bajaj Pulsar 180. It has a reccomended RON87 rating for fuel.

I am not certain about my G4, but it works fine with RON95 in the tank. Across the border i pump premium in the tank.

You should realize that a Hayabusa can run on RON92 just fine.

Any bike can run on cheap petrol. The only issue is that the bike might not have as much power than if its using its recommended RON rated petrol or higher.

That said! If your bike's reccomended petrol is so and so, pumping higher grades does not mean that it will run faster. Its all in your head. In that case, the higher grades will act as a cleaning agent, since higher grades of petrol normally have better cleaning properties mixed in.

The poor dead horse. :(

It doesn't matter whether the pump's prices rise or not, I still keep to RON 98 to keep my pistons running at the same steady "heartbeats" it was the previous time I pumped.

Or maybe I'm just a hypochrondiacal biker :lol:

Oh, and did I mention? Caltex petrol has Techron, that goodie that "cleans your engine as you go" :thumb:

  • 2 weeks later...

If you're riding a bike, petrol prices should not be your biggest concern.

Take a look at the pricing again and see if it makes sense to downgrade one petrol class lower and think that you had saved thousands of dollars.

I am riding a bike with 18litres tank.

Difference between RON 95 and RON98 is 8 cents.

So, 8cents x 18 litres = $1.44

Difference between RON92 and RON98 is 11 cents

So, 11 cents x 18 litres = $1.98

Come on, life is complicated enough, don't make it more complicated with nitty gritty stuffs.

A big difference would be of course, if back then you had been pumping in Malaysia and now in Singapore, then you'd feel a huge pinch.

Make your machine run on RON98 or 95 at least and forget about it.

If you can make ur machine run like RON Jeremy, it could be much better.
