SBF Garage Sales Rules & Regulations

*** SingaporeBikes.Com's message to All users ***

Dear members,

Singapore Bikes Forum (SBF) was started as a "Free to Join" Forum for all with the same interest to share tips and also to know more people in the Motorcycling scene in Singapore. However, as we grow bigger, we have to invest in our own servers, more bandwidth and resources to cater to the ever increasing number of members (91,000 members, 4.78 million postings as of Oct 2010).

Till today, we insist on maintaining forum access to be FREE for ALL members unlike some other major forums.

SBF has been growing constantly, bringing bikers together. Due to this reason, the requirements for running the site have risen tremendously. Many commercial entities had also realized the potential benefit this forum can bring for them, be it motorcycle related or not.

SBF's Garage Sales Section was created to assist our members to sell off their PERSONAL items which might be of use to another member. Usage of this section will be at NO COST to all SBF member(s) as long as it is for his/her personal and/or used items and not for the purposes of gain/profit.

SBF does NOT allow commercial entities (shops, distributors, etc) to post the sale of their products and services in Garage Sales. An Advertiser's section has been created for this purpose.

If any commercial entity is interested to advertise on SingaporeBikes.com, please contact us using our online advertising enquiry form.

Revenue from Advertisers will be used to maintain the servers for YOUR browsing pleasure.

We earn to save for big events for our members, not for our own pleasure.

By posting or creating a new thread. Members utilising this Garage Sale Section are to abide to this section's rules and regulations and non-compliance will render his/her account to be banned by the Moderator(s)-in-charge.

The management wishes every member the best of luck in his/her sale!

Best regards,

Administrators & Moderators

SBF Garage Sales Act

BY CREATING THREAD(S) OR POSTING IN SingaporeBikes Forums (SBF) GARAGE SALES, YOU AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES LISTED IN THIS POST.

If you do not agree with the rules here, please click HERE to continue

***** To be able to post a new thread in Garage Sales, all members MUST fufill the following: *****

1) Minimum Post Count: 50 posts

AND

2) Minimum period after account registration: 30 days.

Please DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT attempt to bypass this by posting rubbish all over the forum. You WILL be slapped with an infraction for POST CLOCKING.

1. Threads / Topics allowed in SBF Garage Sales section

a) All sales of motorcycles/items by non-commercial entity. (Items are deemed owned by commercial entity or for profit if the seller contravenes the following subsection(s) )

i) Items are sold for a beneficial profit to any business(es), shop(s)/workshop(s) or legally registered bodies

ii) More then one motorcycle/item sold by a seller without seller's ownership. Meaning the concurrent sale of more than ONE motorcycle(s)/item(s) which do not belong to the seller.

iii) Sale of more than one brand new item, be it of a different color or size, but of the same or similar product model.

iv) The quantity of any item must be clearly stated in your Sale thread/posting. Failure to do so may warrant your thread to be deleted by moderators. This is to prevent so called "personal" sales where endless numbers of the same item are being sold as a "personal" sales thread.

b) All sales of used items. Items are not restricted to motorcycles and related products, not owned by a commercial entity. Items are deemed owned by commercial entity or for profit if the seller contravenes the following subsection(s):

ii) Non authentic items a.k.a imitations

f) Posting sales on behalf of others

i) Please be reminded that your SBF account belongs to YOU and YOURSELF only. Please DO NOT allow any other person(s) to use your account. Too many times, the management has come across cases where more than one person(s) were using the same SBF member account. The other user(s) of that account flouted the rules, impersonated, defamed or was unethical and eventually, the fault was wrongly pointed towards the wrong person. To avoid this situation, the moderator(s) and administrator(s) reserve the right to remove thread(s) which are posted as "selling for a friend" category and to suspend/remove accounts which are known to have multiple users to safeguard our members.

3. Defamatory Posts/Flame War(s)

a) Post(s) with defamatory remarks will be deleted or edited at moderators' discretion.

Action may be taken against the poster.

Please refer to Chatterbox Rules and Regulation when posting

4. Ownership of threads/topics

Each approved sales thread is owned by the seller and thus he/she has the right to post the information he deemed necessary and the price he/she deems appropriate.

It is the seller's right to do so, even if the price or condition of the item does not justify each other.

5. General guidelines suggested for browsing Garage Sales

a) It is the buyer's right to do his/her own homework and research on whether the item being sold is reasonable or justifiable.

This means asking around for opinions, going to shops to check on current market prices or even meeting the seller personally and viewing the item.

It is also the buyer's right to bargain and negotiate what would be a reasonable and justifiable price.

b) It is NOT the buyer's or browser's right to post nonconstructive or critical comments, especially if there is no intention of buying.

c) If you do not have any interest in the item or no intention to buy the items advertised, leave it alone.

If you are interested in the item, feel free to post enquiries in the post.

Alternatively, you can contact the seller by PM or any other contacts the seller leaves behind.

6. Sale of unapproved aftermarket parts

a) SBF will not be responsible for consequences occuring from the purchase and installation of any aftermarket parts not approved by the relevant local authorities.

Buyer will buy and install at his or her own risk.

7. External URL Links

a) Linking your sale to an external website is strictly prohibited.

An exception is made for the webpage of the MANUFACTURER of the item showing its specifications or for hosting images of the item that the seller is selling.

Some good photo hosting sites include Photobucket and Imageshack.

8. Other Rules & Regulations

a) Excessive posts to "up the thread" is strictly prohibited. A general guideline will be not more than 2 times within a 24 hour period. Members found going around all over "upping" other members' threads may be penalised for post clocking.

b) Members are allowed to have a maximum of 5 concurrent active sales threads per user. If you do have many items on sale, please consolidate them into ONE (01) thread with thread topic starting with "". You may feature up to 4 other threads from this main thread in Garage Sales. , , , threads are not included in this limit.

c) Repeatedly opening new threads for the sale or search for same item. Repeated threads spotted will either be merged or trashed at moderator's discretion. Further spamming of threads will be awarded an infraction.

d) Exceptions to rule 1A are made for (for advertisers) (for Commercial Mass Order) and (Personal Mass Order) advertisers. , and advertisers are allowed ONE (01) thread in Garage Sales which must be marked with the , or header accordingly.

e) Lowballing of other members' sales thread is highly frowned upon. An example would be offering $200 for a $1,500 item on sale.

f) All new members with less than 50 posts and less than 30 days of registration are prohibited to create new threads in the Garage Sale section. This is to discourage freeloader(s) that registered just to sell items. All SBF forumers are encouraged to "report post" on shady characters and most probably commercial entity posting in disguise.

Infringement of any section of the act will result in one or more of the following actions:

a) Account suspension

b) Removal of Posting rights

c) Thread(s)/post(s) deleted

d) Awarding of infraction points. (3 points and you are out, clones will be similarly banned on sight.)

To be fair to all other genuine personal sales threads and users who have paid to advertise their services or wares in SBF, Garage Sales mods will not hesitate to remove any "private sales" threads WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.

In simpler terms, to those so called "Private Sales" thread owners, you will NO LONGER receive a nice PM from us stating that we removed your thread.

Please DO NOT come and PM us why your thread has been removed, why this and why that. If you find that your thread has "disappeared" it means that your thread somehow has contravened the Garage Sales Act and has been removed.

The rules are VERY VERY CLEARLY stated in "SBF Garage Sales Act" and if you still somehow missed this bulletin or sticky thread, neither SBF nor its moderators will not be responsible for any damages.

We get many many PMs daily, and we are not obliged to reply to each and every PM.

ANY THREAD/POST INFRINGING ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES WILL BE REMOVED WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE!

As Always, Moderators will exercise discretion before taking any action towards any errant member.

SingaporeBikes.Com shall not bear any risk or responsibility on behalf of the buyer or seller in any transaction carried out in Garage Sales.

As much as possible, SBF's Administrators and Garage Sales Moderators will look through and remove any malicious sales threads to protect our members.

This is a FREE Service provided to members for their personal sales by Singaporebikes.Com

First release: 1st June 2005

Last revised: 25th Feb 2010

This act is not exhaustive. Please contact the moderators if you have any enquires.

It's been observed that often, sales threads has been swamped by unconstructive and irresponsible comments and posts, i.e. attacks on the condition of the item, the price, "this shop has this price blah blah".

Garage Sales Guidelines

SELLER

- Each approved sale thread is owned by the seller and thus he/she has the right to post the information he deemed necessary and the price he/she deems appropriate. It is the seller's right to do so, even if the price or condition of the item does not justify each other.

- Please provide adequate details of the item(s) you have on sale. Details like: price, condition, specifications would be very useful. Pictures of the actual item will help you sell your item faster and with less fuss.

- It is strongly advised to refrain from posting prices in your topic title. Keep your thread topic title to be easy to read and comprehend. It will make it easier should you decide to revise your asking price.

- Titles like "Come in and take a look!" is highly discouraged. Doing so might have your thread title changed by moderators to make it more clear to other members.

- For Thread Starter (TS), once your sale item(s) has been sold off, kindly use the new feature "Mark this thread as sold..." under "Thread Tools" to lock your Sale Thread.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee289/SingaporeBikes/MarkAsSold.jpg

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee289/SingaporeBikes/MarkAsSold2.jpg

A prefix [sOLD] will be inserted into the sale thread's title as shown.

BUYER

- It is the buyer's right to do his/her own homework and to do research on whether the item being sold is reasonable or justifiable. This means asking around for opinions, going to shops to check on current market prices or even meeting the seller in person to view the item.

- It is also the buyer's right to negotiate what would be a reasonable and justifiable price.

- It is NOT the buyer's or browser's right to post unconstructive or critical comments, especially if there is no intention of buying.

How are we to know you are not a bike shop under the disguise of a forum user and trying to guide buyers to your shop?

No one made you the "guardian" of the Garage Sales section. (If you really do have an issue with the thread, click on "report post" on the offending post for further action.)

None of the sellers are holding a gun at your heads and forcing you to buy the items on sale.

If the sale price is outrageous and yet there is a buyer, I can only say congrats to the seller and :goodluck: to the buyer for not doing his/her homework first.

- If you do not have any interest in the item or have no intention to buy the items advertised, leave it alone. If you are interested in the item, feel free to post enquiries in the post. Alternatively, you can contact the seller by private message (PM) or any other contacts the seller leaves behind.

With that in mind, this guideline is in immediate effect. All offenders will be dealt with accordingly.

iTrader - A user feedback add-on for vBulletin

Description:

iTrader for vBulletin is a rating system for when members buy / sell / trade items from each other on Garage Sales.

iTrader came about because it was a pain to try and maintain a single thread listing good / bad traders and so far has worked out quite well.

Features:

* Rate another member: Positive / Negative / Neutral

* Specify in each transaction: Buyer, Seller, or Trade

* Leave multiple comments about the deal

* Dates & IPs are all recorded to prevent abuse

* Specify a thread URL to the deal

* Advanced URL checking

* Display ratings over time

* Filter based on Buyer/Seller/Trade/or feedback they left for others

* Users can edit/delete ratings left for others (time based limitation)

* PM notification when new rating or comment is left

If you encounter any problems, please leave a PM to PaLmEr with the title "iTrader Bug Report" or in this thread.

Who in the right state of mind would join a Motorcycle forum and instead of posting questions about what kind of bike is good for 2B/2A/2 or what type of bike should i get with 10K.......

All new members with less than 50 posts AND less than 30 days of registration are prohibited to create new threads in the Garage Sale section.

This is to discourage freeloader(s) who register account(s) just to sell items (usually of a spam or commercial nature).

All SBF forumers are encouraged to "report post" on shady character and most probably commercial entity posting in disguise.

Any form of post clocking to circumvent the 50 post requirement WILL BE penalised without exceptions!

2. All sale threads must fulfill the 3Ps requirement.

  • Price. All items on sale, price must be clearly stated. This is a one-for-all preventive measure to safeguard the interest of all interested buyers.

  • Phone. All TS has to list down your contact nos. for interested buyer.

Note
: Without fulfillment of the 3Ps above, thread will be deleted without prior notice.

3. Once your items are sold, please update your thread with the [sOLD] prefix & auto-lock thread by clicking on the "Thread Tools" at the top of your sales thread to prevent the seller from getting more calls/enquiries even after the items are sold.

4. Once again it will be emphasized that NO SELLING ON BEHALF. Please do not sell on behalf of forummers and non-forummers. Selling on behalf is prohibited to prevent unneccessary sales disputes.
