I've gotten the sad news that my cousin's bf is killed instantly in an accident in MY

It has been many years since i logged into this forum and also a long time since i stopped riding after i had an accident around 6-7 years ago. I've advised him to consider getting a car for transport. I've been through the stage of wanting my own transport and could not afford a car. I don't know what happened, all i know now is that he's dead, heard that he's killed instantly, stay safe fellow riders.

 

In my accident many years back, i've ignored all my relatives' and friends' advice, i am young and want freedom, and the adrenaline rush. I told myself, i am a safe rider. Until i got sandwiched by a driver that was talking on the phone, i tumbled and up till today, i couldn't forget the moment i saw a mercedes benz logo (SBS Bus) stopping 1m away from me, if the bus driver wasn't alert enough, i wouldn't be here today.

 

I only suffered a torn ligament, 2 surgeries & 6 months of physio. I don't know why i am here telling everyone all these, but i hope everyone stay safe

Sorry to hear that. Life is unpredictable. Be it walking / riding/ driving/ cycling, there is certain risk involved.Just need to manage the risk. If accident happens, any transport mode also there is death. That why called a accident. Be strong. Always sad to hear rider rip.

It always tear me up whenever i read abt an accident. the fear of living my family without anyone supporting them when i am gone is something i always remember before starting my bike.

the imagery of a big vehicle moving at afast speed towards us is a scene from many movies but its real. i also experienced this before until my knees always trembled whenever i got on my bike 7 , 8 years ago. the fear lasted almost 5 years.

Yes. On the paper today. Sad to see a rider down. Be safe. From what i read might be rider fatigue from long hrs of riding into the early hrs of morning. I dun ride thru the night, always leave early morning and ride thru the daylight.

Bro, buy enough insurance coverage. Just in case and family are well been taken care of.

But from the photo the bikes dun looks bad. I dun think the bike will be total lost.
