You can't even get out of Singapore in this time frame given the current traffic congestions at both exit points. :D

You want beaches, you have to head for the east coast of West Malaysia. The nearest clean beach is around Desaru area, such as Jason Bay.

City shopping, you can head to Malacca. Or you can visit the Adidas and Nike Factory Outlets (not your typical US factory outlets) in Skudai.

Otherwise, you can head to Tg Piai, which is the southernmost point of mainland Asia. On route there, you can visit the over-rated and over priced Kukup. :D

All these are within 3 hrs drive from JB.

However, I would just head to Pendas (20 minutes drive from 2nd Link) in the late afternoon, sit at one of the kelong seafood restaurants to enjoy the tranquility of the kampong over looking the Pelepas Port. You can bring your notebook, as the restaurant provides free wireless internet access. No kidding

When hungry, you can have a seafood dinner feast and it's really affordable. Just that they don't serve beer. :slurp:
