Hi all

I'm trying to renew my insurance tomorrow, i'm wondering how can i get a quote from the various insurance companies before i decide which company to settle down.

Any idea how can i go about doing this?

Thanks in advance!

Try to stick to the same company as long as possible, at least there's the NCD to enjoy.

NCD follows the rider and not the insurance company. So no need to stick with the same insurance company to enjoy the NCD that you already have

Since when NCD follows the Rider and allows him to switch company to enjoy the same NCD?

I used NTUC for a year, then I switched over to Mitsui for 1 year, no NCD was brought over, then I switched back to NTUC again, the NCD was still there under the rider's name.

For NTUC (Not sure about the rest), they will keep the NCD under your name for 3 years after you withdraw from them. But I haven't heard that you can use like a certain company for example, 5 years, enjoy 15%, then jump to maybe Mitsui, and they give you 15% based on your time in NTUC.

yes. NCD follows the rider. When switching insurance company, on the proposal form they'll ask if you have existing NCD. Just have to declare. When you do, they will ask who is your previous insurer, and what is your previous policy number.

If they do not ask, just tell them you've got existing NCD. they'll still ask you for your previous insurer, and your previous policy number, they will double check, and give you the NCD.

Sorry to hijack the thread..

I've got a question regarding NCD.

I've rode my bike for a year with insurance date starting 12-05-2007 to 12-05-2008 and was require to do an extension for the insurance because the road tax are not in sync with the insurance. The extension date is from 13-05-2008 to 16-09-2008.

So far, there's 0 accident or claim during my ownership.

If i wanna upgrade/buy new bike during this period, will I be eligible for the NCD 5% for the new bike insurance or will I have to wait until I renew the insurance then qualify for 5% NCD?

Thanks in advance for clarifying. :)

I just got a new insurance for my dad with AXA and his 20% NCD that he has had with NTUC was brought over. Like bro 0re0 has explained, must declare to the new insurers about your existing NCD. They will do the necessary checking and so on. Of course NTUC has other benefits such as added discounts like 5% loyalty discount (etc) that does not carry over to the other insurers obviously.

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

Loyalty discount? Must the person be the main rider or can the person just be the subrider to receive the loyalty discount? Example is..I'm first time applyin with ntuc..But a friend of mine have been with ntuc for a couple of years..Does he need t be the main rider to get the loyalty discount or coud he jusy be the sub rider to get it? :giddy:

09/07/2009 - Passed 2B TP (10th attempt)

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..

For Loyalty discount, if I recall, its only the Main Rider. However, its 1 time transferable.

may I ask what's the procedure for insurance if I switch from 2B to 2A bike? Do I cancel the current insurance or can I just pay abit extra to 'upgrade' the insurance?

Bloody Hell.... $650+ for a Phantom????

That's more expensive than my Blackbird which is almost 10 times more in displacement (with fairing, to boot)!!!!!!!

Despite the fact that I'm in the lowest insurance group (Above 31), the mitsui quote is still ridiculous!!!

Mitsui quotes are crazy. They are the highest I think. That's why I withdrew from them man.
