[Technical] Possible Solutions to your Phantom's Problem

provided he keeps note of his EO level, im just trying to help him trace for the source. even if he managed to spot oil dripping from the bottom like u mentioned, u never knw where is the source. could flow down from somewhere else. thats why i asked him to try clean the sprocket area cux behind the front sprocket, there is an oil seal and thats a common wear and tear prob on bikes. i just dont want him to go to bike shop and ask them to change the gasket and end up that isnt the source of the leak. u know how some shops just happy happy change without checking. :)

i had similar drip too last month, but the dripping is so slow that oil level was totally unaffected, but eventually felt guilty of dripping oil in the carpark, shop help me changed the seal in the gear shaft there then stopped dripping already. the old seal not rubbery anymore

2 weeks after my bike stop dripping, somebody else's bike start dripping on the floor and the parking slots got that pool of engine oil again haha

Hi guys,

A noob in Phantom here. Anyways, I'm having problems e starting my bike, especially when I leave it overnight. Seems that when the headlights are "on", nothing happens when I press the starter button (no cranking, no clicking). It will only start if I either 1) switch off the headlights or; 2) if I leave the lights on, I'd have to clutch in to start the bike. What seems to be the problem? Been having this problem since I bought the bike in July. Changed the batteries last Thursday when it went kaput (couldn't even push start the bike) but still having this problem. Any advice is much appreciated! :)

I have this same problem... if you ever find the solution pls msg me !

Dear All,

Anyone know how to tune that Phantom's Carburetor? I think my fuel-air mixture is too rich. Got backfire and spongy throttle at higher RPMs after a recent servicing. Thank you!

what did u service? got touch the carb? first thing u shud check is ur plugs. not accurate but at least have an idea of hw rich or lean ur engine is running.

actually externally u can only tune the slow speed jet, means affecting the idling rpms. if higher RPMs got problem, means inside the main jet or needle jet might hv been changed to bigger one, making it rich. did u change ur air filter? a choked up air filter can make the engine run richer since it restricts more air.

Hi naim,

The servicing was at Ah Chong's Planet Motors recently to change the gearbox (changed gears 2-6), changed a few engine gaskets, changed cam-chain-tensioner, spark plug, engine oil, air filter. As far as I know, the carburetor or the needles was not changed, but it may have been taken out/washed so that might affect the settings.

Ah, how can I change the slow speed jet?

Yes the air filter was also changed to a new one. So should not be restricting air flow.

Hey guys i got a new problem, though in the past once a while it came up but went away. Recently when my engine is at mig-high rpm theres a strong vibration, enough to tickle your balls like a sex toy. Nothing much just the vibration. But im wondering why is the vibration so strong? In the past i dont have this strong vibration. Could it be bearings koyak alr? I got one of the bearings somewhere koyak alr, resulting in transmitting some uneven vibration and sound when i clutch in and coast that goes "grong grong grong". Its not very loud but audible.. Any idea?

It's a wiring problem.

I got this many many years back.

What I did was I took out the headlight and traced every wire, unwrapping every black tape, until I found one that was loose.

That's the easy part.

The hard part is putting everything back. :giddy:

Took me 2 days to strip and put everything back. :faint:

You can keep the bike as it is, since you know how to start, and go Malaysia, no need to be afraid people will steal because nobody else can start it!

i noticed my bike chain becomes slack pretty fast, the slack is more than 30 mm by estimate after about 2 months of riding. WHat could be the cause and how to solve it?

Posted

What type of chain are you using?

Some cheapo chains can use but they don't last long.

Did you oil the chain regularly?

Don't oil, joint in the chain too dry wear and tear faster.

What sprocket size are you using?

Wrong sprocket size also puts extra strain and 'pull' the chain longer.
