i noticed my bike chain becomes slack pretty fast, the slack is more than 30 mm by estimate after about 2 months of riding. WHat could be the cause and how to solve it?
how many km..you have ridden...after 20000 km..sure happen...if 200km..your chain is gone...

worn chains are terminal...there is no repair..

for the next chains u put on..have an oiler installed.to increase /maximise chain life extension by 5 x..

What type of chain are you using?

Some cheapo chains can use but they don't last long.

Did you oil the chain regularly?

Don't oil, joint in the chain too dry wear and tear faster.

What sprocket size are you using?

Wrong sprocket size also puts extra strain and 'pull' the chain longer.

@Silent Hunter

@ezzyoiler

total mileage is 35,000 km. I was told by the seller that chain and sprocket are new when I bought in May, the mileage then is abt 27,000 km.

I asked the mechanic to tighten the chain when I change EO recently. He did it by adjusting the 2 small nuts at the ends of the frame/fork.

I think you can do what ezzyoiler suggest, just manually oil and use first, when the current chain adjust until cannot adjust already then go buy a good chain and install the ezzyoiler.

My chain already 2 years +++ still good with the oiler from ezzyoiler

Maybe "Air Suction". There's this box-like thing that I had it changed at Planet last year due to this similar issue.

This information may be buried somewhere in the forum, but a search didn't bring it up so....Anybody know what the normal or average piston compression should read on a 200 cc Phantom?

i see. how much does the repair of the box-like thing cost?

Around 60+ if I remember correctly. But do verify it with the Bike shop i.e. explain the problem. I might be wrong (I said "Maybe" in the earlier post). The Air Suction could also be "modified" such that it doesn't have to be used.

Hey guys, anyone knows how to get into the phantom headlight to change bulb? I open the headlight but found inside the plastic held down by metal "clips" at the edges of the round assembly.. Its actually cos the metal reflector thingy that is supposed to cover the bulb infront has broken off and is rolling about inside!

dont have a proper image but only some parts diagram and an image of my old housing to illustrate:

1. there's a rubber covering the bulb at the center so u will need to uncap it by removing the rubber cover first.. gently

2. u will see the wiring through the rubber cap, leading to a circular flat metal piece, with 3 metal lugs sticking out in the same plane.

3. this metal plate with lugs locks down the bulb inside into the housing. press down inwards real hard and rotate clock wise to release the securing metal plate. if your angle of pressure is correct this will be easy or take a bit of time.

4. the lamp housing will become free from the connecting wire/metal piece. u should be able to just lift up the bulb from housing.

meanwhile if you are talking about the reflector.. once its broke its gone for good.. u can shake it out once u disconnected the lamp housing by rolling it about and fishing for it through the hole..

Hmm guys this happened to me recently. Not a problem, but a potential one. Was riding along Jalan Bahtera (leading to Scouts camp, before SAF area) and its a dirt/slight rocky road. The road is riddled with potholes too. As such i kept to a speed of about 30-40km/h. Suddenly a huge pothole appeared infront of me. However as it was a dirt road i cant do hard braking without skidding as i'm using street tyres. I just rolled over the pothole with much force and then i heard crashing noises. Thought i damaged my bike till i looked at my side mirror and saw my Shad 45L box tumbling down the road with its contents tumbling out as well. Turns out the hard bump over the pothole actually ripped the box and its mounting plate off the frame. The bolts were not loosened and infact is still on the bike. Small pieces of plastics were all that's left on the frame. The impact destroyed the side of the box as well. So next time when you guys ride on bumpy road, do take care and try ride alot slower. I think my speed is above 40km/h during impact cause i did accelerate when im over a smooth portion of the dirt road.

bro.. i grieve for your rear box =C meanwhile do check your rear wheel bearing.. mine went out of alignment after a similar pot hole situation..

jack up your rear wheel so its free to rotate, then hold the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move the wheel from left to right along the wheel axle axis.... it shouldnt move by right..

good to hear its fine! mine was bad enough to cause an irritating creaking sound at low speed and cause brake drag!
