Hi guys, got my ST200 brand new and mileage now is abt 2800km. Since about 1/5 months ago(i collected my bike on last wk of Dec 2010), my bike started to experience jerking when moving off from stop position. Been talking to some bros and reading forum too, most probable cause is clutch slip.

My inquiry is that what is the best way to overcome this? Go back to agent to complain or just go and install after market part to solve e problem. The jerking of my bike is really getting worse n getting on my nerve.

My thanks to any bro's reply.

Regards,

I also experienced it when my bike hit 8k mileage. Vibrating is normal when engine is still cold, moving off from stop position or u suddenly accelerate from slow moving. The vibrating comes from the clutch. I've checked with a few mechanics and they say its the manufacturing fault. If you bought ur bike 1st hand, ur bike is under warranty by the gilera agent till 10000km mileage.

Ok, what you are experiencing is a clutch slip. Going back to agent is really pain in the arse coz at most, they just clean your clutch pad and would say, oh maybe your clutch bell is dusty.

You might want to change your clutch springs. You can get a Malossi one which comes in 3 colors: Red, White, Yellow. Different color serve a different purpose. But definitely, these springs are much stiffer than stock. At least it minimise clutch slip.

Secondly, you might want to change your clutch bell coz stock clutch bell more or less does not disperse heat that much. That is why, your clutch unable to get a proper grip on the bell which cause the slip.

Hope this helps.

Hey Halffie,

I experienced that very recently... as per my post somewhere up there.. lol.

Changed the clutch and clutch bell and all is well now. no more of that jerking and vibrations. But its quite heavy on the pocket tho if u change to malossi ones... Since yours is still under warranty, you may wanna make full use of it. But as Mike says.. if they're gonna juz clean the stock clutch and reuse it, then the prob may return.

Maintenance for normal servicing plug, oil etc will range abt $50 onwards ( every 6,000km)

Full servicing, rollers, belt etc range from $150 onwards ( every 12,000km )

Look for stock condition bike if possible. History of bike eg fall, skid, accident...?

Mod bikes have a higher wear and tear. But normal mod, eg air filter should be fine.

Hope this helps.

Just joined back as a Gilera rider yesterday, bought 2nd-hand FBC '08 ST200 from a shop. LV SBK carbon-fibre pipe included.

Problem is, the shop doesn't have the cert :(

How do I go about getting it?

Go to a Leo Vince exhaust distributor, think should be GMAX. Then you need to get a purchase order, exhaust spec details. There's a fee if i'm not mistaken. Then you got to go LTA or Vicom Inspection centre to do an inspection to make your exhaust street legal. From there, you will have a proper documentation and ownership of the exhaust.

Hope this helps.

Yeah bro the pipe itself have a cert which is a booklet, another cert comes from LTA which comes after you pass the inspection.
