How oil warning lights works.

With current technology, there's only 2 type.

The simpler one is just a mileage monitor system. Upon reaching certain mileage. it will light up. So once reach, it will light up. then u have to reset the idicator. This is the easiest and simplest to implement in any vehicles. Just a simple "timer".

The next type is oil pressure sensor. When oil level get low, the oil pressure drop.

The oil presssure sensor will detect low pressure and the oil warning will light up.

Or if the oil is dirty, oil filter/strainer is clog up, it will also give a low oil pressure reading.

Some design will have a overpressure sensing too. but not that common. When u add to much oil, the pressure will be higher than default. So oil pressure sensor will detect this and light up the warning light. But not a common feature because, Most engine will have over pressure bypass valve in the crank. so the eccess perssure and oil will usually vent to the air box area.

Hi Black Comet,

Thanks for your input, which confirms my understanding.

I will drop by HL in near future to make this clear to them. In case the same mechanic starts going around telling others that may lead to disaster.

Looks like the general feeling about HL mechanics from the rest is not baseless afterall.

Anyway think the moderators should change the name of the Majesty thread to be in line with the rest. i.e. SBF Majesty Cafe. Just my suggestion!

What are the advantages with the bitubo shocks? I have been playing with my shocks adjustment till I am resonably satisfied (position 3 of 5). Tyre pressure changes the characteristics too, my tyres are now inflated to max recommended of 200 and 250 front and rear respectively. I had my engine mount changed too as the rubber has disintegrated due to all the flexing, swaying and ageing as the engine is rubber mounted. My fork oil was replaced with a 20 wt instead of a 15wt (factory soec) andt I now find it too stiff ... all in all, there is a difference to me and I find it is better.

Anyone care to share other handling refinement done to their scoot?

Maybe for coffee meetings, Scooter Owners of Honda, Susuki,Yamaha can meet as one group. Individually we are small. When we group we can appreciate each others' scooters. We broaden our mind and circle of friends.

I own Forza and I feel "lonely" lah!

We can each have our forum or thread. It's only for friendship and commaradie that for meeting that we combine.

Majestyers, what do you think?

Hi all, thought I share latest prices from Auto Machinery on parts for Maj 250

Slider (U shoes) $12.00

Spacer $10.00

Cam $20.00

Original Yamaha belt should be about $70 and rollers about $40, that's what I was quoted, will know when I eventually change these 2 items :) in general, their genuine Yamaha parts priced lower than HL ..
