Hi Brudders out there,

May I know what is the normal running temperature on a Gixxer 600 K7?

I traveled about 15km yesterday on normal traffic and when I stop the bike the temperature registered as 103degC. What is the max allowable before I know it is overheating.

Also what is the temperature for warming up before riding. I heard some say warmed up 2mins some 5mins but I think based on temperature gauge is more accurate.

Hope you guys can help out since I lost track about sports bike, the last one I rode was 15 years ago. :giddy:

Thank you in advance!

I basically warm up my K7 750 to around 50-55 on the gauge before moving off, keeping the rpm below 4k until i hit 70+ on the temp..

Basically on hot weather days, my temp gauge would be around 85 travelling on xpressway and small roads..

It will shoot up to 104 before the fan kicks in, max i've seen is 106 before the temp goes down again..Usually this happens when i'm stuck in a jam..

By the way, how long have u own the bike??Perhaps doing a flushing and replacing the factory coolant would be a better cooling solution.

Thanks MC28,

Just got this 2-hand bike last Saturday and the last owner service the bike two months ago and the next service should be 3000km plus to go.

The EO used is Motul 300V 10W 40 and maybe I should get the radiator flushed and replace fresh coolant.

Any other advise and things I should keep an eye on this Gixxer.

Thanks

Usually engines are designed to perform at about 90 Deg C. Warming up serves the purpose of circulating the engine oil. Is not necessary to warm up for very long. 1-2 minutes is fine, however do not be "hard" on the thrutle and high RPM till your bike reach the ultimate temperature (Usualy 90 Deg C). Long warm up for FI engines is not recommended.

In regards to which point the bike is overheated is of course when the niddle reaches Red (on analog). Not sure for digital, maybe you can reffer to your manual. If you ever have your bike over heated, then stop immediately "kill" the engine (DO NOT TURN OFF THE IGNITION KEY) and wait till the cooling fun goes off. If you switch off the engine by the ignition key then all electrics are cut off and the fun will not work. Resulting the temperature to keep rising.

Good luck.
