I was into marine fish-keeping for 7 years before I gave it up 2 years ago. I also tried keeping invertebrates but find that weekly adding of trace elements, performing 5-6 water tests, and changing water too tedious(I'm also lazy, cos I rather watch them than do the work). So I kept a marine fish-only for 5 years.

When the filters and the water in my 4-ft tank was mature(took a year), I didn't need to change water anymore for 5 years, just topping-up of water which was lost through evaporation.

I used 4 flourescent tubes(1 ultraviolet), 1 Eheim power filter canister running into 2 fluidized sand filters, 1 Jaqno power filter canister also running into 2 fluidized sand filters, and 1 protein skimmer. All running 24 hrs, except for lights(15 hrs timer). Only washed power filters alternately every 2 years. No cooler used.

Angelfish and butterflyfish don't do well in this set-up, but most others ok, for eg., snowflake moray from 4 inches to 1 ft length, 1-inch regal tangs to 4 inches, 2-inch porcupine puffer to 4 inches. I think my tank limited is around 28 inches fish length. The lifespan of fishes was around 1-2 years. A wonderful hobby.

All the best to your hobbies. :p

There is one in eunos block 8 also.

But the trend for this fish not as popular as last time,

Thats why not much ppl rearing now.

but quite the nice fish to have. I had the black tiger one,

Fed life food all the time, aftr aftr sometime if its too big, its black fades away

Thanks guys for the info. I'm right now not rearing any fish as my Oscar jus died. Really sad as i took care of it for a few years already and once i moved house, the poor thing died jus like that. Anyway, I went to the one at Eunos. They got the Oscars there. Both white and black one. But the uncle damn bloody arrogant sia. Like I owe him money like that.
