if the bike is intended to be jacked up, the engineers would have produce it with suspension jacked up

jacking up ure suspension will results in the faster wear & tear of the suspension bearing, and easily prone to accident when u corner cause the centrifigural force of the bike has gone haywire.

should affect one way or another, u see before the bike is manufactured, it is put to a lot of test. the aerodynamics of the bike would change wheather u jack up or down. the handling would differ from the stock one

engineers do have costs to cut, budgets to meet.

that's why got budget bikes.:cheeky:

There is no adverse effect, in raising or lower the ride height if the done correctly and within the tolerance of the bike geometry.

Instead of us shooting in the dark, how about letting us in on :

- What bike are you riding. Mono-shock and twin shocks are done very differently.

- How much height increment changes are you looking at ? Because most riders wanted to increase the height because the bike sag too much with the rider's weight. If that's the reason, then increasing the ride height is not the correct solution.

Bikes are designed not to please everyone, but to be acceptable to majority of the targeted market.

Changes that affect the handling of the bike might be ok for someone but not ok for another.

Therefore it is best to do minor changes and test it over a period of time under different situations to see if the changes are acceptable.

I notice my current RVF is higher than the usual similar models out there in the streets. I did not modify it to be higher, think it was done by the previous user b4 i got this bike. No complaints until now from me as I am quite tall (180+cm) and it does looks nicer.

But my current concerns are:

1) Will it cause further stress or damage to my suspension

2) Will my cornering performance be affected as I am now having a higher CG, will I have a easier cornering if I use the stock ride height?

3) Will it be expensive to restore my suspension back to original height?

Thanks

Practical Test Checklist:

√ Sudden and late braking

√ Faulty signal lights

√ Superb use of horn

√ Assume road belongs to father

√ Never at fault no matter what happens

√ Tailgating confidence

Result: YES! You qualify to become a Singapore car driver!

If done properly, there should be no problem.

Read this http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/howto/rear_suspension_shimming/index.html

From what I read in the various forums, jacking up the rear has the same effect as lowering the front. The constant reminder that keeps popping up is change a little at a time and don't overdo it.

Before you do anything, try to find out how your bike was modified. Only then you can determine if it is possible to undo the changes and estimate the cost of undoing it.
