motorcycling to most is either a passing phase or a hobby.

therefore, we have the tendencies to try all kind of bikes for the fun of it.

unless you really have the spending power, getting 2nd hand bikes to ride for a year or two would be ideal.

It is freaking expensive to get a 1st hand cl2 bike.

For something which you only own for 10 years.

The quantity of traffic lights, bumps and amount of cars will eventually put you off.

but.... being human, we just have to try it for fun!

Cheers!

As claimed, There's a need to drive when we have a Family. But all that is needed to ride is Dream... Many are still dreaming about it.

Depends la. virgins or sluts. You choose. hahaha.

come on... no bike in Singapore worth to pay brand new price.

as soon as bike touch tarmac, price goes down..

not to mention 2A, class 2 exotic bikes like Harleys, Beemers and KTM RC8 (can find in garage sale) price dropped alot for brand new and 2nd hand (slut as PBS mentioned)

but if you are rich.. go for it.

repairs ?? what repairs ?? many bikes run around decades of age with hundreds of miles and still going strong.

example.

14k brand new. No repairs just normal maintenance

8k 2nd hand. 6k left to play around with repairs. Normal maintenance per normal.

Not to discourage la but see where your priority lies in getting a new bike. If you want hassle free. Go for it. Buy, run in, ride. No need worry if inspection will pass for 2 yr or more. If you don't mind getting down and dirty. 2nd hand. Slowly clean rust, change this and that, then ride. Every year cross fingers if inspection pass.

Ultimately, as long as you enjoy your ride it's fine :)

Inspection also almost always can clear. Unless u mod major big time but if stock bike should not forsee a problem with inspection. Agree on gettin 2nd hand as well as the savings from geetin 2nd hand more than enuff for overhaul in the worst case scenario. But wat happens when the bike u want no 2nd hand

I guess on most time, if a used model is not available, one will just have to settle for an alternative model unless his/her desire is so strong that I would suggest just go for the brand new one then.

Huh!!! Just saw this thread

BikerLover, normally those who own this particular machine are very reluctant to let it go lah :cheeky:

This is mine; have been with me for the past 12 yrs, exactly (Dec 1997), since brand new ... means ONE owner till now ... too sentimental in value

End-up me bought (keep) couple more dual-purpose bikes just to vary the riding tour route :p
