My dl650 gear shifting is quite stiff - esp down shiift. And I have problem shifting into neutral with the engine running. Once engine switch off, no problem. Does this sound like clutch problems? How much and where to replace.thanks.

Change liao. My experience is clutch plate la. Wear and tear. Ride first, last time play i4, not so used to v-twin. Low end torque feel abit "gutless" no i4 rush, but there is some character to it and good tourer type engineering.

I encountered this too.

May i suggest before spending any $$ to replace anything, try adjusting yr CLUTCH CABLE SETTING. Turn the knob clockwise-anti-clockwise, play with it. Constant vibration from daily riding might have lossen it. It works for me.

If it doesn't help, its time to replace clutch pads and/or springs. If u do replaces it, pls share the brand used and price with the rest of bros here. thanks.

Hi,

my guess your Wee must be of those which are styled super stylo-milo one huh! Pls share yr ride by posting pics for us to admire!!

If you can know basic electrical & handle small drills, you can always get plastics and parts from Sim Lim Tower to customise yr own super cockpit.

If not, spend a bit to get RAM mounts then buy top-of-the-line GPS (ZUMO!!), SLR, Laser-detector, blinding LEDs, Portable LCD-player....Im sure you will give those MPV drivers heart-attacks!

seriously i wan to make my vee cockpit like one u mention but trying to find a shop dat do it....already talk to the guys at mtechnik....but dunno how much??

Not sure your reason for picking the dl1k. Have you tried a dl650? The dl650 should fit you well. You can get an abs one for 19.5k brand new OTR. Southern Motors, haven't heard many good things about them if you know what i mean. You can buy the dl650 straight out of getting your class 2, no point having a bike in yr garage without a license.

I recently bought a dl650 and would have bought it sooner have I not test rode a dl1000 in 2002 when it came out. To me, the dl650 is just ahead and a different bike. Test both bike before deciding..

Hi,

You are limiting your perspective and options due to tied down to Southern. Empower yourself but keep Southern as an option and I concede there is still some value in that under the circumstances. My advise (if its worth 2 cents) is to find a way to sell of your current bike. Meantime, increase your options on other bikes that you like. Look around. Test ride. Consider Loois, there have a well priced used dl650 sitting on their dealearship floor for example. Some members here are also selling their bikes. Talk to them. If the bike you are buying is well priced you can secure a loan from established bike shop or finance companies. Enjoy the hunt. Good luck!

hey guys izzit possible to dis to our Vstrom cockpit....wandering how much pocket kena burn hole for dis project??

Hi Spaceboy!

still researching hard huh. Well done, u manage to get pics of that cockpit. Technically, its possible. If I remember correctly, the owner also uploaded pics showing how he mod the wire-harness and marked out the diemensions of button openings on the side plastics. Thats very very useful.

With that many controls, ain't u worry abt them distracting u? or worry abt pressing the wrong button at the wrong time.

If u do manage to finish this project, we must ride to the Gold-Wing's gathering. Can't wait to see their jaws drop to the fllor when they see yr bike!!

Why? hepco rack-only accomodates hepco luggage....

Mine (almost new) comes with the swMotech-most practical rack i've come across.costs a lil more than the other two(givi and H&B),but can accomodate hepco/givi/krauser panniers with the appropriate adapter. don't have to use compensating sizes(one wider than the other).

Anyway, with me and the top box on its already almost 140kg. I have never used side racks, and dont intend to for the dl650. I will sell these racks off if anyone intested. I think the new price is $450. Selling almost new for $350. For pic pm me. you can check with adventure on wheels for actual pricing choy(tel:68990148)

Bros, I receive couple of sms for the aftermarket cans. Sorry, I KIV first, one reason is not receive the stock can from the owner yet. Another is in the meantime, see how i can like it.. but the side racks confirm can go...thanks...

The above side rack still available...dont miss it!!
