hi, like to check if anyone's Vstrom has this situation of engine idle and stall problem.

When warming up, engine will die a couple of times.

Temperature is about 1-2 bars.

On the road (about 3 bars temperature) is the same situation, but less frequent.

i've encountered this recently....and i don't know what's the reason..

but it only happen for a while...

usually when i start the bike...it will idle around 1000rpm...

that time it was below 1000rpm....btw 800-1000...

what i did was off the engine....wait 5 minutes n start again..

then everything back to normal...

so far no problem on the road...

For my case, the idle and dead is an everyday problem.

It should not be the case for EFI bikes.

thnx bro for the info!

so how's the 650 so far? tried touring 2 up? been hearing alot of bad reviews for travelling wif a pillion cos of the lack of power..

btw, red is nice~ :D

I was actually lingering between 1000 and 650 also before I decide, but never regretted since the day I brought back my 650...

650 is adequete for me....so far there is not issue for 2 up all the way to Penang, not a issue for power, but very well for fuel saving, 1 full tank can go aroung 480-520km (2 up) with a average speed of 120km/hr...with a lots of heavy bars and boxes on bike also...

Never regret for the choice I made, the bike has never fail me before....

I had exactly the same problem, then one day the bike just wouldn't start. Found out I had a faulty rectifier, cost me about $300 for a new one.

Yeah, I have this problem also. So what is the conclusion? Fuel Pump or rectifier? Where to find parts other than Old Man Looi's moto, I think he dont like my face. Haha

check the battery first, if the voltage is low could mean that the rectifier is not charging.

for fuel pump, you should hear a faint whinning sound from the front right fairing when the engine is running stationary, which means if no sound = faulty fuel pump

for vstrom parts, you can try eversuccess at lembu rd, so far they have never failed me when it comes to vstrom consumable parts.

What I did was, to check the battery first, the voltage was low but the battery was new, so it meant that the rectifier is not charging.

The faint whinning sound from the fuel pump is quite loud right?

Seems to me its getting louder since the first day I rode the bike till now.

Darn must bring my voltmeter to check the voltage.

Don't want to push start this heavy bike.

what i meant if there is a whinning sound it means the fuel pump is working fine, but if there is no whinning sound, it's probably not working and worth a check.

I wonder if anybody knows some dirt/rough rides in Malaysia where the Strom’s “off-road” capabilities can be tested? Anyone interested in organizing a Strom Dirt Trail ride up north?

I found one short exciting trail just 5 min from my home in Punggol. I had tried it a couple of times , getting my bike dirty and got caught in the soft sand.

Good enough for those who would like to try out how the Strom perform offroad and dun need to go up far north. Its a nice quiet place and u could enjoy the sea breeze . For those who like to fish ... its a good spot too. Anyone interested ???
