Garmin has just launched it's latest handheld GPS, and this is really suitable for bikers.

- It can do more, much more, than what the 60CSx could do.

- It has a bigger screen than the 60CSx, and is as big as the Colorado.

- It has touch screen, so it's glove friendly.

- It is rated at IPX7, meaning it can take all kind of storms, dust and whatever shìt you can throw at it.

- Get ready for this.......the entry model is cheaper than the 60CSx. Of course, this could only means that the 60CSx price will dive even lower. :D

The GARMIN OREGON has arrived.

Of course if you ride a GS, then only a Zumo will make the bike complete :D

hi guys, got a few questions here..

i'm looking for a gps that fits there criterias

- can be mounted and dismounted onto my wave's left rear view mirror's metal bar thingie easily

- tells me how to get from A to B accurately and precisely (like make a left turn here, u turn here etc)

- rugged enough to be able to withstand rain and stuff

reason is i always get lost looking for places i haven't gone to before even with directions so most of the time i spent a long time topoing ard to no avail..

appreciate the help guys!

Speed is about control, control comes from your wrist.

An accident will cause you to lose your wrist, which in turns leads to losing control and eventually speed.

Think twice before twisting your wrist.

The most affordable color GPS by Garmin that meets your criteria is the Legend HCx which is retailing about $410.

I have been using the Legend C, first generation color GPS in the Legend Series since 2004, and it's still working perfectly despite of all the abuses.

Mounting can be improvised. My Bike mount costs me about $6.

ah ok.. i did some reading up on the malsing website.. seems like they recommend heavily nuvi and streetpilot etc..

i looked at the specs of the nuvi and do like the looks of it but how good is it really for use on a bike?

P.S: i forgot to add best if the gps do not require me to plug it into my bike to charge or anything.. i'm a real idiot at these stuff.. preferably something i can bring home to charge and when i need it i'll just bring it along and go

You can forget about the Streetpilot as they are considered obsolete models for they are being gradually replaced by the Nuvi series.

Nuvi have big screen and the entry model Nuvi 200 is retailing at $299 almost everywhere. The build quality is not as rugged as the Handhelds, and it is not weather proof as they are designed for use in cars.

As long as the weather is fine, no problem with using the Nuvi on the bike, with a few preventive measures. I do with my 200W occasionally, with a plastic bag on standby :D

Nuvi GPS are powered by internal rechargeable lithium batteries which the manufacturer claims it last "up to 5 hrs". I can assure you that it doesn't last that duration. So you would need to rig it so that it draws power from your bike should the internal batteries fail.

Bro Mugentis> I get by my lack of intel & God-given talent in the DIY area by buying all the items i want fixed and seeing my mechanic Ah Soon now at Bikeworks @ no 157 Shun Li Ind Park (bedok reservoir rd, go straight towards ubi, 2 or 3 traffic lights after you pass the reservoir on yr right).

He's really helpful. :)

ya lik wat paradigm bro said.. get e stuff u need (lik ciggy socket) and go to yr trusty mech to fix them.. more easier dat way.. cos i also not into electrical DIY stuff, i do not wish to teach u e wrg stuff haa.. u can also tell him how u wan it to connect (to ignition or add a switch) wires all dat dun worry.. bike shop will be able to provide them..

if u tink 1 socket not enough enough dun buy multi tab 1 lo lik mine.. (2 ciggy soc + 1 usb) dat enough for me as my usb is for GPS and cig soc for my HP.

where to mount it is up to yr imagination liao.. water proof it if possible cos exposed electrical stuff.. mine stil ok cos of my big windsheild unless heavy rain i keep them..

Be sure to check ur tire valve caps and ur tire pressure when u moving off. My tire valves has been stolen by some cheapo and brainless people. Air been let out also. Hope his tire hit nail and puncture when he park his bike. :gun:
