If can, wait for PC Show next month. Heard Garmin agent will have a booth there selling.

Most likely the Eastgear.... But bear in mind they are not the authorised Garmin agent.

Nope.. heard it is the local Garmin distributor putting up the booth.

He owns the copyright of the maps, it would be his right to put his name anywhere. And putting your ownership on your property is not spamming.

if you despise that name so much, you can use the NT2009.3 map as that an official Garmin release.l

It's downright rude to generalise a person's name to be gay. Do the right thing and retract your unnecessary comment.

:)

I agree. These mappers basically set out free maps that are better quality than the manufacturers'. I think anyone who uses their maps owe them at least a simple "thank you".

Another thing that pisses me off is this person with a gay sounding name "Jerome Wee" spamming his name everywhere. I want to see the address of my destination, not his name!

Neo, how is "Jerome Wee" a "gay sounding" name? Perhaps it is time to reflect on how sometimes we can be too quick to react harshly. Oops, ... did I just demonstrate that myself? :cheeky:

Cheers

noting the experience of CMYRS, having a Eastgear set could be a better thing if they are able to repair the sets locally instead of having the set sent to taiwan and waiting for dunno how long without a loan set :p

Hi,

I have the Nuvi 500. Works great but at midday (when sun is out), have a hard time reading the screen, and have to twist in odd angles to try and help. Supposed to be the anti glare screen but not sure its that effective.

Has anyone tried an anti-glare screen (and scratch protection) film? Any other solutions?

Thanks.

Those anti-glare screen is useless as you can achieve about the same result by bringing up the screen brightness to the max.

You can buy a sunshade for the Nuvi500 which will make the display easier to see under direct sunlight. Anyway it's not difficult to DIY the sunshade

just installed modified garmin mobile XT on my cheap starhub contract subsidised pda hp, HTC 3G touch (window mobile 6.1) yesterday, together with free maps thailand, spore , malaysia maps taken from malfreemaps.

My verdict is it is better than mapking in terms of speed, ease and sensitivity & no need port splitter etc.

Compare with my humble garmin legend cx, it is also faster to log onto satellites.

I suspect yours could be loaded with the MSM NT2009.3 map.

yup. went eastgear n got surprised... they replace the MSM map with a MFM 1.59 :p

What did you tell the eastgear fellow for them to change the map for you? Cos I've still yet to do the change for my friend's set...

why do you need Eastgear to load MFM map ? Their version is no different from the one that is available online.

At MFM, there is no need for unlock codes, and you don't even need to be a member to download their maps. It's absolutely free with no condition attached.

In return, do post a thank you note in appreciation for their effort.

Heyos everyone.

Anyone interested to swap a small Aquabox (p/n: RAMB174AQ3U I believe) with a medium one?

I got the whole Aqua Box with base and bracket but realized the Small size is just nice for my PDA / GPS device, which is bad coz I dun have enough clearance to plug in cables into the PDA.

The box is brand new with only the clear screen fitted on and PDA tested on. No holes cut into it yet.

If top-up is required, I can consider but within reasonable means.

PM me or reply me here....

Need help to find a place (ya, ya .. get a GPS...)

I went, a few years back to a seafood place in Johore, it is located at a water's edge, facing Singapore. Like a Kelong, but it's connected to mainland by planked path. So you park on the mainland and walk to this Kelong-like structure that is half on-shore and half in the water. Quite a few restaurants together. Not Kukup. I remember travelling exiting JB exit along NSH (northbound) and then navigate to it. Any idea anyone as to the place I am talking about? Co-ordinates appreciated.

Thanks

Aye cat, all the seafood joints are almost like what you described. You are not referring to those at Pendas right ?

If i understand your route correctly, those restaurants could be in Skudai.

Those I find it a bit messy.

There is a nicer one in Masai, and abit more expensive but they take credit card. They even serve "lou shi pan" aka rat grouper.

Thanks, Demon, well, it is a Chinese restaurant so it's not Pendas. I do recall looking across the straits at the red/white funnels of some plant in Singapore. Gosh, a picture is really worth a thousand words!

Will follow-up on those waypoints :)

Red and White funnels then that's definitely Smoke Stacks from Senoko Power Station. Just across is Perma Jaya, there are also some seafood joints there

I haven't been there before, give some feedback after your visit.
