i am using garmin xt on my E71, tried similar method as well (juz use earphones). Does ur take a long time to lock on? it seems like it takes quite some time to lock on.. I am thinking of DIYing something to mount on my scooter as well

U know i got the exact thing. LOL

and it cost $4 from Daiso.

A zip-lock type of card holder. confirm water proof and it comes with a lanyard to tie to handle bar.

And a big piece of velcro behind the card holder, the otherpiece on the bike itself. Thats it.

Dirt cheap. I had one for my n85 which i sold off (the phone),

Now i am making one for my N97. :cheeky:

Tried the Nokia E71 GPS updated to OVI maps for riding. Very accurate in pinpointing the turns and distance judgement. Using headphones to listen to the directions and it didn't get me lost. Just that the GPS signal got interrupted in the CTE tunnel. Now looking for a way to mount it and weather proof the E71 when mounted.

using GPS is totally free & if you are using a mobile phone or handheld PDA, juz make sure its not using GPRS, otherwise there will be charges ....

if u buy the offical local set from the dealers here, it prob comes with garmin/malsing maps of spore n msia.

some of them would sell other country maps in separate memory cards.

this is a cheaper alternative if u dont need the original.

or if u insist, u can buy original garmin maps in cd format.

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

How come you put two different maps from the same source in your GPS?

The Singapore v1.21, is not a different map but one of the many map tiles comprising of various states of Malaysia, when compiled together, it is known as the MalfFreeMap, and in this particular case, it is the MFM v1.53.

What GPS are you using ? A handheld ?

Hi i'm new in this gps systems, haven't ever use any and either way new in Singapore so city isn't yet really similiar.

What gps you would succest me to buy. waterproof and those have to be in gps. I think i don't really need any pointing system to point restaurants or anything in it. Should give good introductions when to turn and so on. Headset system might be good too in this traffic here.

Where to buy what would mark/model cost.

thx, for answers. Pehu

I am only familiar with garmin gps, so my suggestions are strictly on garmin models.

What gps you would succest me to buy. waterproof and those have to be in gps.

All handhelds are waterproof. For Nuvi, only the 550 0r 500, and all Zumo ie. 550, and 660 are waterproof.

I think i don't really need any pointing system to point restaurants or anything in it.

That's one of the basic search features, so it's available on all GPS.

Should give good introductions when to turn and so on.

All GPS capable of navigation, will do that, it is known as Automatic Routing but this is only visual prompt on the display. If you need navigation instructions by audio, known as Voice Prompts, then it is only available on the Nuvi and Zumo

Headset system might be good too in this traffic here.

This is the ultimate function, known as Bluetooth® Wireless Technology which is exclusive only to the top of the range models such as the Zumo 550, and 660. It will allow you to listen to mp3, and provide voice navigation instructions, and make phone calls.

Where to buy what would mark/model cost.

as guide http://www.eastgear.com/store/garmin-c-63.html

For Zumo models, you would need to enquire at one of the Garmin offiicial dealers such Perfect Watch.

language will not be a problem if you want to get a chinese version, that's what they sell over there, just like pc all in chinese, there is a bike shop along 建国北路 they are the dealer. I think it's either before 民生东路 or 南京东路 .
