Hi, I justed finished testing downloading theGarmin maps from Europe, Canada & Australia & Worldmap into my GPS.

All ok except the Aussie one cannot unlock the map even when i got the unlock code. The unlock code is inside the folder of the dvd I gave you. After entering the code still cannot unlock, must register online. But while registering online, it asked me for the 7 digit registration code on the box which I dun have.

 

I tried used img2gps software to directly send the img files also cannot - coz map still locked.

 

You have any solutions?

Hi Tim.

I suspect the unlock-code which u 've is somehow tagged to a particular garmin gps's serial no., tat's y we couldn't upload it to other gps since serial no. is different. if u really want to upload ur australia map to ur unit, another way is to re-compile entire map, total 101 .IMG files, each takes about 20mins to re-compile, 20 x 101 = 33hrs 40 mins. kekekeke

wat kongping meant is no local (as in sgp) warranty. in case u nid to send for repair within 1st yr after purchased, u've to pay ur own freight to US, whereas unit wif local warranty, local agent 'll pay the freight for u.

Hi kongpng. sorry to interrupt but i've seen cases where owner send his unit 3 times within 1st yr due to manufacturing defects..

Hi vtec666. there'r at least 5 shops in SLS dealing in GPS, u can find them @ ground level, 3rd floor, & 4th or 5th i can't recall.. u may want to try SLT too, heard tat prices over there r cheaper than SLS.

THKS , i just been SLT today and check for Garmin Legend @ $280 .....

maybe will recee around more and check got any more cheaper ones ....

THANKS ANYWAY ....and the map which malsing maps is great , got shows penang detail also ... great just when i need it ....

garmin legend is a basic model with no colour and non memory expandable.

garmin legend C comes with colour.

garmin legend CX comes with colour and memory slot expandable.

 

default internal memory space is 21MB if I am not wrong, but if u get the CX version, u can slot in any memory card size. I'm using a 1GB by the way.

hi tt6389, do u have a thailand map on the GPS? I dun mind coming jurong island to get from u. So far those tat i have are very simple & not so accurate

y do u need to compile the .mp file :confused: just download the .img file will do, save all troubles...

and one more question can at one time open a few map in mapsourse ??

oic.. no u cannot open a few map overlaying each other in mapsource, it don't work tat way. unless u've a commercial compiler, u can combine america + europe + s'pore + m'sia into single map.

so if i have a thailand road map and a topo map, and i download it into my GPS, can it work concurrently on the GPS (not mapsource)?

 

willl it show the overlay?

yes, u can upload both maps to ur GPSr and view them as overlays.

Garmin Zumo. It built for bikes...but veyr exp....in sg, haven lauch yet....but in Ang mo country already launch liao...nw i waitin for it 2
