Bike cannot start again.

 

Ironically was planning to send the bike in on Thursday to Combine Motor at Sing Min AutoCentre.

 

Was there in the afternoon yesterday, talked to the mechanic on the problem I had about starting problem and to have them look at it thoroughly, tune it up, etc.....

TOld them I will be bringing it in on Thursday and take their time as I will be away.

 

Went back home, at night wanted to pick up my son, but bike cannot start. Tried and tried, cannot.

 

Thought it was the normal 'hiccup', it was raining so forget it, will try again tomorrow morning.

 

This morning tried to start, still died om me. Thats it, must me readlly 'dead'.

Headlight, horn all still working.

 

Checked SBF forum for workshops that open on Sunday and found the nearest in AMK, Eddy Ong motor.

Checked that it was OK from the members posting, so called to have my bike pick-up.

 

At the workshop, hooked-up to another battery, and bike started without problem.

 

HE hooked up a voitmeter and the reading was 12+ and increased to 14+ when revved up the engine.(Is the reading normal?)

Revved the engine for quite sometine, switched off, restart cannot start(from my battery).

 

He adviced to further checked the alternator(XJR13 not using rectifier), that could be the problem.

 

Leave the bike there for them to check and do normal servicing and tune up.

 

Will update further, keep tuning to this forum.....

Bro, sad to hear that your bike is down... hopes it is not the alternator... But from what i know, allternator hard to spolit so dont worry too much... Iif really spolit then $$$

bro alternator and rectifier not much difference both is used to recharge battery...like my bike,start bike horn dont work but move few mtrs den horn will sound...its my batt i know for sure....best is check out your user manual coz it may help...if dont hv den go search on the web....13 manuals r easy to get n its 4 free....it may save alittle off ur pocket.... i try to check what type of prob u facinc frm my source aite....

I have seen more activities in the forum the past week than any other time at the SBF Forum. I seen technical discussion too by our Big Boys of 1300s & contribution by our newest member, xjrIzaac23 too.

We had a good 2007 year with 3 successful meet-ups between August 07 & December 07.

 

With the new year 2008 here, this is the #4 Meet Up since August 07 & our first in 2008. Hopefully we can start a regular meet-ups this calender year. How about some tourings thrown in (any tour leaders here??) & some other local activities (eg Bowling Nite, Movie Night, Family Day etc). Since the group is rather small, i would need everyone support and participations for the activities above. More will be discuss in the upcoming Jan 08 Meet-Up.

Wishing all Riders a Happy New Year & May 2008 bring more prosperity & better health this year!

sad to say to u bro the alternator is conected directly to starter or rectifier...batt may b new but as long as rectifier/alternator is not working it wont complete the circle....

Alternator dead.

 

Here are the job done;

1. Repair the alternator, 2 components that was replaced, rectifier and cant remember that other stuff, redo the coil. (the 2 spolt component with me if anybody interested to take a look).

 

2. Changed battery

 

3. Change Maxima engine oil.

 

4. Clean carb and tune.

 

 

Poorer by $700.

 

First time using Maxima, then bloody smooth.

 

And now bike start super not like before.

 

Is the price OK?

 

 

Anyway will be away to HK tomorrow and back on Monday then flying off to Bangalore. Busy busy

well actually i also used maxima oil before but goes back to usual aft 1 wk.. know anything about rock oil? heard got storng cooling effects...think shud be good for oil cool bikes...even tried motul...same as maxima...but more x..

motul is good. maxima i never used. castrol not good for my bike....

I used Rock Oil for my 2B bike, somehow the engine felt smooth only after 1000km of used.

 

Tried Castrol and Rock Oil on current bike, but felt 'rough'. But this Maxima super smooth.
