oh ya, i am currently holding an official printed copy for the XJR1300(L) '99 Service Manual. Its about 100+ pages long so copying it would be quite a hassle, unless u send it to the copy shop. This manual have EVERYTHING a mechanic need to maintain the bike. and i mean EVERYTHING. from wiring schematics to the small parts.

If you guys want to make a MO to mass copy this manual, do contact me.

Dear Folks,

Can anyone tell me the reasons why you guys chose the XJR13 over the CB13?

Power output on the XJR13 is substantially less than the CB13, and being oil-cooled may be viewed as a downside also.

So there must be more to just specs, right? Looks? Maintenance? Parts? Hong Leong?

Anyone tried out full aftermarket exhaust and power commander on the newer FI versions? Results?

Thanks!

Ah! I think I shall reply this...

I remember when I was choosing between CB13 and XJR13 3 years ago, the main deciding factors that influence me to choose the XJR was the cost... If my memory serve me correct, my machine then cost about $17800 while the CB without the ABS model was easily 2K to 3K more expensive then the XJR. The one with ABS I think was another 1K more expensive.

Then I look at both Spec. The CB have the upper hand and is a few horse power more powerful. Comments on the internet also showed that the CB is better on pick up.

Then I look at the equipments. On this I felt that the XJR has the upper hand. The XJR has the Ohlin suspension and I felt it also has better brake. I do not know how realiable is the Honda ABS system but my experience with the XXX ABS, tell me to stay far far away from ABS bike...

Then come the style... The CB look fantastic too... But unfortunately it stop making the CB in twin pipes but the XJR still does (it no longer does.. now it come in single pipe...) So for me, the XJR score better for style.

Maintence... XJR is Oil Cool, it save money but get in trouble in traiffic jam... CB is liquid cool, need to maintence but better cooling... I also perfer the XJR alternator...

Resale value, tell me honestly guys... how many times when we try to push our bikes to the motor kiam and the boss try to cut down our price even when our bikes are more popular model... It is about business... and therefore to me resale price dont make a different... The only way to cut down on losses is to ride your bike long... If you buy and sell within 3 years of course you will make big losses...

In summary, i choose the XJR due to the pricing, ohlin, brake and the style (depend on individual)... And I am not prepare to spend 2 to 3k more just to have a slight increase in performance...

This is my own personal views hope I dont offend any CB boys... I have been riding the XJR for 3 years. And I have no regret.

juz something to add....

CB's may be good at pickup but all bike enthusiast know this basic knowledge the better the pickup the more it takes away the top end power..so check your sources coz xjr is better at the top end...no disrespect tho.....

I don't think tat anyone of us had tried out the full aftermarket exhaust n power commander newer F1 versions but we would definitely love to try it out on our rare & unique beast...XJR.
