pls do pm beer1860 in this thread he is going to sell his bike..so far his bike is very well maintained. alternatively pls pm xjrredbull for shop details coz can get good price BUT pls dont buy from M1,S1 or albert motoring considering the fact many have been cheated into buyin at high price..This bike can be obtained below 4-5k may even be below 3k try goin ard..But pls understand this deep down to buy 2nd hand bike,there's a sayin do not expect a prostitute to b a vigin.hehe

Yo, I just saw the XJR 400 R this afternoon at Hong Leong.

 

Sept 2008 price list - just under 13k before insurance.

 

Ohlins shocks, black metallic, very good build quality. Very nice and comfy riding position too. A bit on the heavy side, 177kg, but manageable.

there r shops which offer 1st hand @ 10k..parts can be difficult need to be abit hard working..like beer1860 he got carb rubber instantly whereas i order for nearly 1 mth b4...Many parts can mix n match like clutch cable TZM part can use,clutch plate,gears,gaskets,sprockets,chains and moriwaki exhaust can easily get frm LAB.

 

But sumtimes can get from other shop faster...

 

2nd hand we asked last time ard 3.5k-5k...Pls dont rush into buyin 1 coz really sucks if get cheated into payin more.

 

Can check with chong aik for a start if not try eunos area should have 1.

And anyone care to comment on the the handling differences between carb version and EFI version?

 

Does it worry anyone of you here that the alternator cover is actually perforated? What if water gets in during rain?

I am riding the carb version no experience with FI model.

One of our new member have the FI model.

If he is willing to let me try his bike, then I can tell u the diff. lah.

Just some info to share.....dropped by @LAB aka Lim Ah Boy and asked about rectifier...he quoted me $55 but using R1 rectifier koko installed it.

 

cheap-cheap...XJR 400 can use R1 rectifier...hahaha

 

if add to cost battery like the 1 im using which is gel powered cost $90

still very cheap @ $145...good deal

Mine is practically sealed with this rubber mat all around.

So kind of wondering, how the hell is the air going to get in?

And the opening of this "air scoop" (dont know how to describe it lah) is pointing downwards.

 

SO what the heck, I cut away the rubber mat that is on the right hand side closest to the carb and re-position the "air scoop" to actually pointing to the front( to me that will allow more air going to the card).

 

Result?

 

TO me when open-up in 3rd, 4th gear, pick up better and much smoother lah.

 

Now looking around what else to mod!!!

think should change your oil cooler...hehehe cooler better performance.

 

if you really itchy hand y not try to chnge your gears.

lets say the bigger the rear sprockets the faster the pickup and smaller the rear the faster u go @top end..what if u can change the gear ratio to faster pickup without loosing top end but instead increase it...? if this can be done imagine a 400 can run as god as a 1000..hehehe..

 

can become speed demon already..hahaha

 

oh back to topic oil cooler...really intrested to get hold of 1 but really got no idea where to get..read an article on it in xjr club uk can improve mentenance efficiency..a cooler engine may prolonge the life of the timing chain which if loose can damage pistons and improve engie response.

Ha ha, actually I am toying with the idea of increasing the rear sprocket for better pickup. Top speed....I dont mind lower top speed a bit for better pickup.

oh ya the sprockets..

try askin about 520 conversion is it abt chain or with sprockets? xjr 4 rear is 45 tooth sprockets..just remmbr the bigger the rear sprockets the faster the pickup but will lose top end power..
