B-bone Ride To Hatyai

Year end and also the time to clear outstanding leave, a planned trip up north to Hatyai, Thailand was scheduled to leave on Xmas day itself. It was meant to be a getaway and rewarding ourselves for working hard in 2008. Weeks prior to departure, a suggestion comes along and opportunities present itself that we t-loan a Daelim B-bone from CKA to test ride up to Hatyai. Being a new bike that only arrived at Sg shores in Oct 08, we were also curious about the endurance and capabilities of this B-bone - a 125cc belt-driven scooter. It was noted that this trip with a 2b bike, it's not about the speed but making it to and back from Hatyai. The other two bike was a GSR400 and a CB400 Super 4 Spec III.

One week before the ride, we attended a workshop of getting ourselves equipped with the basic knowledge of where are the important parts on the B-bone. We had also requested that spare parts like CDI, Rectifier and a belt made available for the ride, just in case anything happen. On Xmas eve, we collected the B-bone at CKA HQ at Kakit Bukit and had adequate rest on the day of departure before beginning our journey up north.

Well, I guess the rest I'll let the photos do the talking bah.... :cheeky:

At Tapah, we were greeted by a group of M'sian Vespa Riders that are on their way to Penang. They were amazed and curious about the B-bone and I had the honor of talking to them in my mother-tongue language, letting them know that this is a new Korean scooter called B-bone produced by Daelim. And the best part is that, they were shocked when I told them that we are on our way to Hatyai, Thailand for our riding trip. Their reply was like,'Are u sure?'. Then we say,'Yes. We are sure.' After which, they wish us all the best for our trip and not to foget that all the riders were being introduced and exchanged handshake and took photographs together. What a waste that we forgotten to take out our camera to capture this moment.

While at Bkt Kayu Hitam Petronas station, had the opportunities to meet several groups of Malaysian big capacity bike riders and greeting were exchanged. They were similarly curious what bike is this and the routine of letting them know that this is a new Korean scooter, the B-bone by Daelim. Upon completion of topping up, toilet & drink break, we continued the long ride back to Singapore.

Throughout the night, the weather was good and it was a relaxing ride back. During the Nilai stretch where the highway was clear, the B-bone were tested on a level stretch of road and were able to hit 125km/h on the B-bone meter, not bad indeed for a 125cc belt-driven bike.

After clearing the 2nd link custom, the B-bone is finally back on Sg soil.

Summary

Though the B-bone was just a 125cc belt-driven scooter, it had performed well in term of endurance and reliability. Delighted that the B-bone did not gave us any problems throughout the entire trip, and also the stability & handling of the bike was good as the entire weight distribution is low and along the centre of gravity.

During the uphill & downhill ride to the Brahma Shrine, Phra Bhudda Mongkol Maharaj status and Guan Im temple, the B-bone was able to deliver the power and ride up the steep gradient without any problem.

On the 25th December 2008, a bike model b-bone went to a ride up trip to hatyai, thailand along with S4 and a GSR400 bikes..

The bike was prepared by Choong Kok Agency.. Before the trip all the riders that went for the trip have to go for a familiarisation of the bike.. Just in case the bike got something wrong at least the riders know wat to look out for.. It was sumthing worth to learn bout the new bike from korea.. From wat i can say from the outlook of the bike is tat its so cool n simple.. Sure gets a lot of attention from people.. ok ok.. back to the riding trip up-north...

Here it goes:

On the nite of 25th December 2008, b-bone , S4 and a GSR400 ready to travel up-north the NSHW to make it to the Sadao Customs.. We move off from the Gelang Patah Esso around 2145hrs.. Before the ride off, we already plan our petrol stop for the b-bone topping up of petrol.. Since the b-bone have a tank approx about 7litres.. We decided to stop at every 70km mark of the petrol kiosk.. The speed planned were 80 - 90km/h.. It will be a cruising speed for the b-bone as we need to know the bike capability.. And oso on how far the bike can go.. The ride was so smooth till at one point it started to rain.. At first the rain was small den it go heavier n heavier.. We endure the rain till we meet the shelter by the road shoulder.. We take cover for quite a while till the rain subside a bit.. Till den we continue our journey.. Till den the journey was raining on and off... Upon reaching Nilai area the rain started to stop.. Only when we reached seremban area it start to rain again.. Thats when we take cover and have our early breakfast of Nasi Lemak wif coffee.. YUM YUM..

After the early breakfast, we went to pump petrol and continue wif our journey.. After the breakfast we felt as if we have lots of energy but nevertheless the rain still didnt stop.. So we continued wif our ride up.. All the way till Sungei Perak.. Thats where we meet up wif some penang riders and they give us some direction to our next stop.. That was like already in the early morning... Before we continue our ride, we bought some Nescafe and Redbull drink to make us sober till we reach Gurun which is like 2 more petrol stop.. Till den we ride wif more focus cos we are all aiming to reach the Sadao border at a appropriate time... At all petrol stop, the b-bone is always the main attraction.. People get around the bike and looking at the bike with a bike question mark popping out.. All were asking wat bike is tis.. Where are u guys going?? When we answer tat the bike is from korea and we are proceeding to hatyai.. Den they answer,'What? This bike is going up hatyai? Cool...' And they wish us all the best for our ride n oso safe journey..

As we reach Gurun stop, we bought our Thai insurance from there.. Have our rest at there and topping up of petrol before we continue our ride to the border.. During the ride to the border, passengers in the car waves at us.. N we did wave back.. i notice tat the weather along NSHW are wet when we travel in the night but during day time its so clear sky..

We reached the Sadao Custom around 2pm.. But remember its oni the Sadao Customs not yet reached Hatyai.. To reached Hatyai from the border is another 80+km... But conferm we already reached Thailand..

To be continued... my mind is blank liao... hahhaa
