money is a big factor. chelsea was just a small club when abramovich took over, still some big names crossed over.

It just makes the football world more obessessed with $$$. When we though Roman was spoiling the market, here comes another one. Players will be deciding between dreams or money, and chances are they go for the latter. Football thus loses its charms.

The Blues have already captured Real Madrid’s Brazilian superstar Robinho for £32.5million. Now consortium frontman Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim says he is willing to pay £134million to wrest Cristiano Ronaldo away from arch-rivals Man United. City’s manager Mark Hughes has also been told he can bid £80million each for AC Milan’s Brazilian hitman Kaka and Barcelona's attacking midfielder Lionel Messi. Liverpool’s Spanish goal machine Fernando Torres and Arsenal playmaker Cesc Fabregas will be chased as soon as soccer’s next transfer window opens in January, with price tags of £70million and £60million respectively. And there will be a renewed bid of £60million for striker Dimitar Berbatov - who only signed for Man United on Monday night.

 

IMO that's a bloody naive perception to think it's possible to instantly buy over the biggest names in current world football just like that. I mean, some are even from local teams. These rich owners who buy clubs as a toy and with no good knowledge of how football works are really, really not only destroying the charm of football, but also making them appear more pathetic than they thought they were. It is absolutely ridiculous.

 

Anyways despite my comments and view of Berbatov, i'm quite glad United bought him - not because i think he'll be our mean goal-scoring machine (that's Tevez!), but Rooney has been too complacent. Seems like he 'knows' his place is secure in the team but plays nothing like he was before; take the Super Cup match for instance, HUGE disappointment. With Berba coming in and Manucho getting the go-ahead, Rooney should bloody wake up and realize he's gotta fight for it. I love him as a United player, no doubt, but it's getting a bit too much.

Well.. some people just have money to play real life FM ( Football Manager )...

 

Even play FM if you don't cheat sometimes also very hard to get all those worldclass player.
