i recently changed my tires and replaced my balancers, now my handlebar is shaking vigourously at 120kmph , before this 170kmph no problem, very sad! what should i do?

from my experience, the stock mirror and a balancer (be it stock or aftermarket) will help with the vibrations A LOT.

so style or practicability, you got to choose...

i reckon the stock balancers are of any help at all..

had you have your wheel bearings checked during the wheel change?

was the tyre balanced(althou i reckon any significant differences as DRZ seldom travel abv 160kph)?

was the steering lock nut loose?

was your tyre deflated?

there are many reasons to cause wobbling handlebars..

anyway, 120kph on SG roads??

ride safe bro!!

bro john, so what's your suggestion? do i need a triple clamp or change my handlebar? or my rizoma balancers are too light? or the bridgestone tyre is lousy? it was balanced by ah kee by the way.confused!

maintenance:

1 x spark plug

1 x oil filter

1.7 litre engine oil

fuel consumption on stock carb is around 26 L/KM.

*depending on the way you ride and the carb is jetted, f/c might be different

it's a totally different machine when it's on FCR and race system..

FCR on street legal, shiok... but exhaust seems like choking the bike..

once on RS3, you'll be amazed of the smoothness..

doing carb and suspension is a feedback thingy...u hav to feedback to e mechanic wat u wan dem to be....not always u get it right e first time....just my suggestion...

Posted

yes bro. i did mine with abboy too.

after the 1st time ah boy set my bike, i feel that the throttle response is only slightly better and i am not exactly satisfied.

so i feedback to him and he retuned my carb again.

and now, i am really satisfied with the outcome.

i wont dare to say its more powerful but at least the bike is hella fun to ride now!

It all depends on your feedback. A mechanic is only a mechanic and he can only work base on your feedback.

When you change to aftermarket exhausts and carb... it takes time and effort to tune the bike to its best performance. Having said that.. there is no optimum tune up.

Only a fuel injected bike with a programmable fuel injection mapping can give you the best fuel/air ration for optimum performance... the next closest is the stock carb and stock exhaust.

My bike is tuned for the track, strong on acceleration and torque but not very happening on top end power. I can have top end power by leaning out the main jet or changing the needle taper.. but it will suck on acceleration... I cannot have both. So what I do is carry high corner speeds and take advantage of the acceleration power on the short straights between the back corners to pull away from others who will kill me on the long back straight with their better top speed.

So exactly at which part is your bike feeling like crap? Acceleration, top speed or cruising?? You need to tell him what you want and where is the problem area. And remember.. without fuel injection... you cannot have the best performance from idle to throttle wide open.. its quite impossible if you understand the working principles and function of the carb.

BTW... my DRZ sucks at cruising at high way speeds and the consumption sucks... but it sure accelerate out of the corners like a demon... and I love it that way.

That's how I experienced it when i changed from EMR to EMN needle..

EMR- allows me to cruise nicely at 100kph with very nice pickup, wheel up the first 3 gears.. but a lot of popping and very unpredictable power surges..

EMN- reduces the popping.. power is smooth thru-out all RPMs.. pick up is responsive rather than sudden surge.. but cruising at 90kph only..
