err i got a question,

My K5 zee does not come with the coolent reservoir (Translucent container at the left side of the bike). I've checked my coolant levels, it is at its brim. Will there be any probs? Abit paranoid here. hah

As for the overflow tube, it just runs down to the ground. so that the overflowing coolant will just go straight down to the road.

Dear Super Motard Bikers, I bought a 2nd hand DRZ 400 SM at bukit meriah today and it cost me $11k + 2nd Party Insurance + Admin Fee = around $12k (COE till Oct 2010). It's a FBD plate and 1st owner is Ang Mo, seldom ride, mileage 2100Km only. Stock condition.

I know the price is a bit high compared to the normal 2nd hand DRZ price but I love this bike and bought it anyway.

Tomorrow the bike shop will complete all service for the bike (plate change, battery, EO and lube the chain etc.) I am going to pick up the bike and may I know what should I take note of when I ride it for the first time since I am a newbie upgrading from riding honda wave bike? (I guess I should be OK but cannot help asking because not confident:))

I will join SBF Super Motar Riding out (according to biting_point it's on every Friday Night) and learn from all of you guys.

I hope I can manage to ride this wild machine back home tomorrow... a bit nervous indeed...

why get a foam filter? K&N is a good road use filter..

it's reuseable and does not wear out like a foam filter..

foam filter will degenerate and crack out when you forget to clean and oil it..

whereas a paper filter like K&N works even without oiling..

look at my FAQ for more air filter queries..

what white tube?? is it a container??

those you see that got "oil", most prob never change their coolant..

so it's dark and slimy like oil..

that's a coolant overflow reservoir..

oh i see. Thanks dude!. So k&n is good for road use and how about bmc? Good for track use?

For a start, go to the shop early to watch them change out the listed items..

as a new 2A rider, never throttle the bike hard until you learn how to tame it..

same goes for downshifting.. rear wheel locks easily for DRZ..

anyway, this friday outing is not in SG.. we'll be hitting Msia..

I suggest you join us next time as you are still not familiar with your new bike..

anyone interested in going for the ride out tmr, PM me..

from abt 7pm till late night..

$2k is way too expensive!! I was only quoted $1.5k for bigbore kit with new valves, valve springs and gasket. including workmanship..

what racing gasket?? all gaskets are the same..

dun mind PM me which shop for reference?

you can use stock cams, it's just that you are not unleashing the potential of the big bore that's all.

was told that if you are touching engine internal modifications, it's best to do it one shot: cams, valves, valves springs, big bore..

as some cams may not be angled to your big bore, or valves are not sitted properly, valve springs are too hard/soft.. etc etc etc..

it's a lot to digest for engine mods..

when not paired properly, may cause premature failures to your stock parts like valves, cams, cam chain, etc..

Posted

just to add abt engine mods..

with all the things you've done to the engine, it needs a bigger exhaust to breathe..

our street legal exhausts will not unleash the potential of the mods..

the only few exhausts to pair with a 440 BB or 470 BB is either a MRD or Yoshi TRC..

the first hand prices are a bit crazy now.. should be in the $14k range..

I recommend ASP.

as for your insurance should be abt $500 for TPFT..

woah.. long time no see.. not more HD??

lolx! i just change to thumper oil. i used motul before this and its the best EO am i rite? Anw i would like to know where can i change my stock air filter to maxima profilter? i ask UM they doesnt sell it but instead they recommend me K&N. K&N is for track used am i rite? and 1 more thing what is the white tube below the air filter for? i saw people put some oil inside there and im wondering what is it. hehe. :)

anyways joe, be it K&N or BMC, both r using paper filter n much better than our stock kopi bun filter. for me, I've got K&N and BMC to choose from recommended by UM but the highly recommend BMC cos at that time BMC has promotion of getting the filter n getting free eo (i can't remember which brand but a good brand) so that i can use it on my next eo chg. that's y i chose BMC.....chk if the promotion is still on.....
