Those are the cams to go for hehe

Don't bother with the stage1 which has a milder profile.

care to elaborate more on the profile? stage 2 as in both the intake and exhaust cams are of wilder profile than stage one?

Stage 2 cams have a higher lift and duration than stege 1. (both in and ex)

Stage 1 has auto decomp, stage 2 doesn't.

Juz to add on, when Hotcams first made cams for the DRZ, there was only one choice. Recently they made a set with auto decomp so the old version was dubbed stage 2 and the new ones stage 1. The new stage 1 cams are very similar to the stock E cams.

Posted

so just get the stage 2 and get a decomp lever? i'm wondering whether is it possible to mod the engine block to put the decomp lever since SM and S model do not have the "hole" for decomp.

Posted

Yes it is possible. Many have done that on TT. However you can't purchase the decomp set alone. It only comes with the kickstarter kit.

Posted

it's hard to find a shop that will do it for you in singapore though...buy a e-model top cylinder if you wants it bad enough, btw, with the decomp hole and the decomp lever installed, you cannot run the stock fan.. :cheeky:

rick, got ur decomp lever already?

what graphics u added on?

hmm... i just brought the bike out for a walk... man if any of you have any fitness club membership, you can cancel it and just take your DRZ on a few rounds up and down slopes in your Multi storey car park... it's really a pig man.

de comp lever plus kickstarter... is it true that the S model cannot fit on a kickstarter? can i put an E model engine on the S model if i feel filthy rich?

I think he's talking abt his new avatar. :D

Kickstarted fits all DRZ models. Why would you wanna change engines? Its the exact same engine as the E. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Emoticons/excuseme.gif Juz get a good machinist to cut out that hole and you're set. If you find it too much trouble might as well buy a top E block if you're feeling rich. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Emoticons/scaredjanine.gif

bro, i don't think it's sabo lah cos i found several metal pieces stucked to my rear wheel as well. i was at kaki bukit industrial area today, probably that's the reason why. If psychocandy didn't tell me, i wouldn't have even bothered to check. :nono:

Have bike will wheelie!

was thinking of adjusting my gear lever more downwards as I find it is a bit too high. always kick to neutral gear instead of 2nd from first. any other suggestions?

same.. especially when i take bends and there's another rider... they think i trying to play punk and rev at them... sigh... i feel probably just kick higher.. i've been having this prob even during 2B lessons, 2A as well.. so for me it's a habit problem.

had made the gear lever lower by one level from stock setting and went out for a spin and found that it is actually hitting my frame when shifting down. got to put it back to stock setting..wat an wasted effort!!!

So end of story is can't do it

been reading around about suspension shocks and springs, anyone care to enlighten how often should the fluids be changed? if you're gonna rebuild the shock, will you do in locally or send overseas to get it done? any mechanic in sg can do a relatively fabulous job in rebuilding shocks?

from my knowledge, it's about 1 year once, to replace the fluids. not sure whether is it for the case of offroad... but i think it'll be nice to maintain the shocks properly.
