why do you guys degrease ur bikes?

another enquiry.

is the gpr exhaust ery much different from the stock e model exhaust.

am thinking of swapping back to a more friend;y exhaust

erm... degreaser is used to clean chains... that's all i know.. clean already then lube again.. to get rid of old grease with dust and sand stucked to it which actually makes the chain like sandpaper wearing out the sprocket and chain faster... that's my mentality about degreasing..

erm... GPR sounds like the stock E exhaust... if the E exhaust is the F4, which comes with year 2000 models. but rick's F4 is louder than the GPR. performance difference i'm not sure.. you have to ask rick on how the bike perform with the F4 and the GPR.

I use PJ-1, spray and wash off!! off coz need to wipe and scrub

simple green is another degreaser/cleaner I had used and I would say it is damn good!

I cant find in SG anymore, only had about 1 litre left

Simple green is very corrisive tough must wash off very throughly if not will corrode the metal

A question abt suspension setup here.

How many of you DRZ owners have actually configured your suspension settings to your weight and riding needs? Do you guys have the correct sag or have been riding it using factory settings till now? I have my rear sus adjusted by Ah Biao cos it was feeling too soft and it's slightly better but now i am thinking of having both the front and rear sus fine tuned to fit my weight and riding needs. Any recommendations where i can get it done?

thanks,

Jim

best way is to change to a stiffer spring rate.

sometime when u max out the setting of the suspension, it puts strains on the moving parts.

i heard some ang moh who a tad bit heavier change to a stiffer spring rate for the rear shocks...

front shocks should do like wise. maybe pay a visist to bikelab? not sure if they have the rear spring for our shocks

today i took my SM off road for a ride and boy did i had lots of fun. It's easier to practice sliding and stuff in such conditions rather then secluded roads. I got a couple of pics to share here but i spent more time riding then taking snapshots cos i have to stop every now and then. I even saw an eagle about 5 foot wingspan munching on some rodent but was too slow to snap a shot. sometimes i really wish i had an E model instead of a SM.

been going there since my MTB days and just realized that there're barriers surrounding the path that leads into this wonderful place so i had to mount curb and bash across some tall grass and small plants to get there but it worth every penny. :goodluck:

btw, i have removed the snorkel from the airbox and as much as i like the new sound, power seems to be lacking after the removal. I notice that more air get sucked in now and maybe the fuel ain't enough hence the loss in acceleration. i'll put it back in and try again tomorrow and see if it's just me or there's really a difference.

change your gear to 15/42...

if you put in too much air in your airbox... it will benefit on your top end but liost some torque in your low end. if wants to go off road can try to use maxxis tires, they have square knobbs and quite grippy on wet too.

AR u sure bro? mine 's loud since day 1, and I just heck care..onli..

Try to isolate whre the grinding sound comes from 1st before deciding anything bro, maybe fitting loose, or screws or mayb nuts causing dat sound...Unless it robs ur bike power, I would just try to look ard 1st..before consulting bike shop..

I'm running 15/45 now leh. The part abt too much air ruining the torque is so true. Guess i'll put back the snorkel later and take it out for another ride. Thanks for the recommendations on the tires too.

Oh btw i was along uh whitley road yesterday and saw a yellow DRZ-SM.. nice bike fast pickup...

I just chug my slow XR behind him...makes me miss my hotcammed DRZ :weep:

Very nice pickup yur bike.... smooth, quiet and fast..

My XR noisy rite? i dun like it ar.. like machine gun attacking ppl like dat.

i'm still having the DRZ riding technique and trying to pull midrange and topend but indeed the XR is lagging in that department :sian:
