In my opnion, your bike is either having a tuning problem or a valve problem, or a tank leakage problem, or a carb overflow that you didnt notice, or a serious problem like piston ring loose; block scratched badly... Changing the carb might not be a logical choice until you verfiy the root of the problem.

 

Guess you should ask someone who have hands-on experience on RS125 and size down the possible problem. Check your spark plug and tell us the color of the ignition head. Is it black or brown or white. Some problems could be solved by just spending S$6 for an oil jet and a drink for the friendly Aprilias. I used to be riding a RS125 with a 28mm carb and it works better than any other sizes that I have tried. (32mm,34mm,38mm Deiortto carbs --- except for the Keihin 35mm carb which is very good and FC at about 25km/l)

 

Alternatively, go to a better mechanic and let him c the bike. FM is good with repairs and I have no doubts about Ah Seng. If are looking for a good tuning, they are just so so... And good tuned bikes are usually owned by those hands-on guys who do their own tuning.

 

Talking about top speeds, RS125 averagely can hit 140km/h anytime and the climb to reach the average top of 170km/h takes some time. ( Based on the standard sprocket setting of 17 fornt x 40 rear. Usually ppl will use 17x39 for a better top but pick-up goes even worse. 16x40 will give you a very shiok feeling but at 6th gear when the rpm reach 11,500 - the speed is only at about 140km/h. Normal RS125 top rpm is at about 12,000 max. If you try to go above it, make sure your piston is not stock as stock piston is build for the max of 11,500rpm as to what I know but this info might have changed over the year. ).

 

Riding a RS125 is all about the passion you have on this Italian bike. A lot of 2B bikes have a very much lower maintenance cost and a few are having much better top speeds and pick-ups... except that their stability isnt as good as RS125. Owning a RS125 is a love for the machine. You should come out with the same kind of owners more often and practice punctuality most of the time. Italian owners that I know have the habbit of setting their clocks to Indonesian time & some even Russian time.

check ur coolant level, top-up if needed, check your chain slack, and lube it if necessary, check ur brake fluids.. haha tats all the rest i think u can go to shp n do unless u wana diy service carb n valve.. and also wash ur airbox clean..

Ya i will in the near future. maybe 2 months down the road. Fee depends on location and distance. no exact fee though. a rough guide is doc dol charges 400 sing from sepang track. But i will make it cheaper for aprilians.
