hey guys, i'd visited this Ah Kent from Pang's scooter...

this is my 1st visit to him... all my previous service and repair were done at Ideal..

after he'd serviced and tuned my bike.. he made quite a few complaints about what had previously been done to my bike..

he mentioned a inferior quality brake pad was used.. some of the parts in the carb were been altered eg: the spring was cut short, one golden in colour nozzle was being scrapped..

he also mentioned that a piece of rectangular sponge was place in additional to the panel filter in the air box...

and now i'm confused, and do not know whether Ah Boon or Ah Kent knows the correct stuffs...

anyone to comment?

hmm...done twice of my servicing at ideal n once at mah motor(coz bought my bike frm there)...i find dat mah does it better...price wise is abt d same...any1 got any commence/comparison?

A second. What does this word mean to you? A blink, a fleeting moment, an ultra-small unit of measurement to measure performance, whether human or mechanical.A second is just a moment, but in motorcycle racing it has now become an incalculable distance.A glance at the starting grid of any motorcycle race is enough to understand how important this small fraction of time has become...

yah one thing to add.. my bike produce more hollow sound whenever i rev.. probably due to lack of the sponge in the air box..

when i asked him is it possible to remove the air box.. he said i can take out the panel filter but got to leave the air box intact...

i'm going to decarbonise and repack my bike with him next month..

going to see how will it goes..

Heyy.... Back home, out from the downpour and in the comfort of my room in warm, dry clothes and outta the green!

heh heh....

No more grouch for now.... till I put fatigues on again... :cheeky:

Anyway, I wasnt trying to censor anyone. But I get really peeved when people murder English just because they didnt get enough education.

Hey... crap happens. Heh... luckily I enjoyed my reservist. In fact I felt so much more relaxed and happier during my reservist. My work is stressful and routine... never ending.

I'm really looking forward to my next in-camp. Seriously... :giddy:

Anyway, back to the bike. My bike was done up by a mechanic named "Black" back in 2000. This guy knew his sh1t. Really knew it. He gave my Priller a 20kph boost in top end via operating on the pipe, plus some other tuning job on the carby. He was the best mechanic I knew working on the Priller. I trusted him without question, and he delivered always. Dunno where he is today though...

Oh yeah... my 97 Replica ran a 34mm Dell'orto carb. Much diff from the 28mm units the Y2K model use. U guys have more mid-range from that carb, mine had more top end output. But it drank fuel like a camel.... 190km to reserve lights.

Where's the bike now? It's somewhere in Indonesia. I sold it in May 2001 to some guy, and a year later, it was resold to some other guy who took it apart and shipped it to Indonesia. :D

u trust a fella who does scooters ??? try to get my idea?

lets put it this way, if u want ur bike stock, den y bother with modifications.

brake pads : if u changed ur brake pads at ahboy, den u noe wat quality they use and da price. but if u change it at ideal, ideal only brings and uses da braking brand. inferior meh ? if braking brake pads are inferior, others wont swear by it. the choice of brake pads is yours actually.

its just like wat happened wen i brought my bike to wing yap for tuning. da place gave me crap performance after saying that whoever the mech dat did my bike just didnt noe his job. and my bike didnt felt any better. dats y i just stick to one mech who delivers. its my personal preference. this kind of bickering always goes on in the biking world. just like how people bad mouth dexing yet still buy from them.

u should also know wat is in ur bike first before being conned or duped into believing wat the mechs say. read up. but bottomline is, if wat ever alterations were made yet u didnt know, yet the bike performs much better than it should, then u should just leave it as it is. ignore unecessary comments and continue to enjoy the ride unless the new mech says he can make ur bike perform even better than present.

for a mech to make such claims dat he can make ur bike perform even better is a huge risk. wat if he fails? wat is his record for servicng like ? wat are other's views on him?

i prefer results rather than just plain words cos results dun lie.

oks aside from all this, i got news for those wanabe 125/250 track goers and perfomance inclined people. however u guys gotta wait til i come back on the 24 nov for confirmation on the news. *suspense*

i used to go to Black for servicing too.

he was really good with the Aprilia and scrams too, not to mention his opening hours were good for a 9-5 working person like me.

but he kinda disappeared after closing shop at Autopoint. there were rumours that he opened up a small workshop in ubi. Rumours only :p

May - before using Broquet Fuel Catalyst

249km full tank. Ride till DRY. Have to push bike to find a petrol station.

19km/L

August - after adding BFC to my petrol tank

268km - full tank, ride till DRY.

20.6km/L

Oct - with BFC, after the 'operation' on my bike....

240km main tank. Havent ridden till my tank went dry yet.

Probably 22km/L, I'd say?

Will have to wait for next tune up before testing mileage proper...

I used to pump Shell 98 all the way... Now that I have converted to 95, my bike pulls less G's now.........

Petrol prices are sooooo ex, cant afford to give the best to my Road Rocket anymore.....

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Solution.... Go M'sia more often.

97 RON can be had for RM 1.41, which given an average exchange rate of RM2.22 to 1 SGD, would yield around 64cents per liter.

Compare that to our current local... what?... around $1.43 for 95RON and $1.47 for RON98?? (I don't pump locally much, never take note of prices) :p

So... pumping in M'sia, you're effectively paying around 43% to 45% or what you would over here.

You get 2 full tanks in M'sia for the price of 1 in SG.

So with that in mind... next time I chio ppl go pump in JB... who wanna go? :p

There is no point complaining others people job, a good mechanic won't do that.
