Guys, anyone here have the 'RAVE Actuation LED' installed on their bike? I wanna do one on mine - But not that sure how to do it, or where i could get it done. Kinda makes you feel cool - like what drivers in their EVOS and WRXs look at their Boost Gauges - We look at our RAVE LEDs Hahaha!

This sounds interesting. The connection to the LED will probably need to have a wire spliced to the one that runs from the CDI to the RAVE unit.

Our RAVE unit is actuated by the CDI which detects the current generated from the magneto coil.

Upon ignition, the valve opens while your engine idles at 1,250rpm thereabouts. When you rev the throttle, or start to move off and your revs climbs above 2,500rpm, the valve closes. At 8,200rpm the valve opens again.

So fitting this LED will mean you will see the a light in your dashboard go on and off quite frequently. For those who like to put on a show, this would go well with your gear shift light and gear indicator.

Personally I'd like to have less distractions on my dash for track, but it would be cool to have lots of lights if you were showcasing your bike. I can imagine the red light coming on at 8k rpm like a boost indicator on cars. Might make some people giddy with glee.

MC28,

Will keep a lookout for you. Hope it gets found soon.

I don't know if bike thefts are going up recently, but didn't an Aprilia get stolen last week?

can i just ask a quick question for opinions....which one is better overall(such as fuel consumption and speed and torque and horsepower and etc), aprilia or mito(talking about the newer models) try not to be biased.. :)

ah seng can add 20kmph more to ur bike by taking off the brake discs :)

Posted
I have to disagree with blasted when she said there is NO after sale value for aprillia. Of course have lah! If not nobody buy aprilia, i buy 11k i sell $0 worst investment EVER.

I'll provide you what I know, then make the decision on your own.

I do know you can fetch a 2003 model Aprilia from the forum for about $3k ++.

The 05 i'm not so sure.

This generation i'm mentioning is known as the 'Y2K' batch, which look very similar, between year 2000-2005 models.

The 2006 model onwards features the newer shaped fairing and as a slightly sharper attack angle (but of course this can be countered with suspension adjustments).

From what a lot of hearsay and unclarified claims from the owners of the newer models (which don't seem to consist of the 'old timers' ) the best bet of the newer shaped aprilias (i wouldnt call them 'better' , for obvious reasons) is the 2006 model because, AS FAR AS I KNOW - DONT SHOOT ME IM HELPING SOMEONE HERE AND IF IM WRONG PLEASE CORRECT ME - The 2007 onwards have different kinds of restrictions which seem a little tedious to rectify.

The latest models also do not come with the godly created RAVE Power Valve, and this is NOT A REED VALVE if you're comparing to your other 2 strokers.

E.g. - Scenario = KR Rider = My bike got valve also mah nothing special wad apriliazzxzxxxzxzxzxzXZXZXZZXXZXZX

I suggest keep scouting the Used Bike Sale section.

03s about 3k

05s about 5k

but 2009 not 9k !

To be honest with you, the bike derestriction, power, exhaust modifications, jetting, carburettor size, spark plug colour, single seat, the rider wear what helment, the rider male female, the rider got nice girlfriend - ALL OF THESE FACTORS SHOULD BE THE LEAST OF YOUR CONCERNS.

What you should be concerned about is

-Instance of accident before?

= Chassis condition - MOST IMPORTANT - NEVER RIDE A BIKE THAT TRAVELS SIDEWAYS

-Mileage - Which leads you to----

- =Overhaul - Y/N

-Suspension

-Piston Jam Occured Before?

-Clutch

Then you can be concerned with other things, because the above mentioned can determine whether you're better off gambling the money away at genting or Turf Club or Loaning it to someone who wont pay back - Remember!! O$P$ (i'm not an ah long!)

I wish you the best of luck in your search for an RS125!

And if you're silly enough to go plainly for looks - Go for the Yamaha R125, the bike that looks like gold but sounds like a Spark135 ! And don't come back to this forum!

Hahahaha jk :)

Cheers!

wow thanks for the all the advice given, will keep in my mind while i carry on to look out for it. is it a common problem for piston to get jam during high speed? seems like its a common problem for sp, but wats the common problem for aprilia?

I am always seen on the left lane hogging the road. :D

I think it's best that you came for an Aprilia outing, and met a bunch of us, so you can view the bikes, and we can thoroughly inform you of the monumental amounts of problems we face day in day out with these expensive noisy uneconomical machines!

First of all, ARC hospitality is fantastic! I just came back from the trackday with them on my rotten tyred RVF and they were most friendly, patient and helpful. Thanks to Khai, Fahmy and Sham, I had a wonderful day except for the portion where I found Fahmy in the gravel. Unfortunate. I became a track marshall for him as I waved the yellow flag as the marshallers were no where to be found. Hope ya better bro!

Thoroughly enjoyed myself and had the privelage of watching the Aprilias cover a few corners while I snailed around on my RVF. Bike certainly turns real well. Both the 250 and 125. This makes me very excited about buying one to run.

Also, I was told by Khai to suggest this to you guys. I will be renting a Pit in PG to store my Track Car and Bike very soon. The pit can store two cars and 5 bikes. I will be keeping 1 track car in there together with my bike. There is space for the rest of you if you are interested. You can leave your gear etc..

Cheers!

That's was a great help to Fanhmy! :) PG is a good design track for 125 & 250. Too bad it was not very well maintain.

haha...great! count me in.:cheeky: I was intend to restart tracking again. In this case, we can have a great place to DIY our bike. BTW, what is the model of your track car? :)

For 125 that are all not very important. There are not much different. Power is nothing without control. Aprilia has better control interm of design in frame works and suspension set-up.

I believe law have answer most of it, as for the led u need output signal in order for it to work which means we need to tap the signal from either from our cdi, rave controller or electrical harness . . . for that u really need to find someone with good electrical background that understand the layout of our bike electrical systems . . . don't know though maybe can search and find info on such mod if one is interested?
