So, i set off to take off my cylinder yesterday night, but sad to say, i did not manage to. I got stuck at one part. I have no idea how to take off the 4 nuts which hold the cylinder in place to the rest of the engine. Refer to the pic below and see if anyone can help me. Do i haf to drop the whole engine to take off those nuts?

Anyway heres the pics i managed to get of part of the cylinder. Is it bad? Never experienced a piston seizure before so im not sure whats bad or whats ok. Any comments appreciated. Running my fingers round the cylinder, there are no scratches or bumps or anything. the cylinder feels perfect except for those 2 black lines.

Mate,

I think you should check with workshop to see if can polish the block and still reuse. Or source for 2ndhand one. :) But that's damn expensive now. 300-400 atleast.

You can buy a new mikata block and piston for 350 on PJME. About there.

Hey guys.

Someone or his team of misfits had a shopping spree on my 2006 Aprilia RS125. They enjoyed free discounts on certain parts of my bike. The brake lever, the brake reservior, brake caliper and my clutch lever assembly.

Anyone know where I can get these parts replaced at cheap prices? Or if any of you have any of these parts let me know ya.

Thanks guys!

Hi mate, http://www.ebay.co.uk is your best friend!! They have alot of stuff there. Or you can contact Liquidy from this thread. He can bring in spares as wel. :)

The ******** who stole your stuff must die on the road in a horrible accident. I hope for that.

leaking from the gasket between block and exhaust, gearbox too.. just did block swap with larry but i think didn't change the gasket thats why its leaking.

Hmm, usually when you change your block, it's best to change your gaskets. That's what I always do. The most crucial one is the engine gasket, the one just below the block. If that is leaking, good luck! You can afford to not change the valve gasket, not but that. In any case, during a top job, there's no neccessity to open up the clutch cover. So why was it leaking from there too??

And you need to check if your cyclinder head was opened when you were swapping blocks. Because when you open the cyclinder head, you need to replace the O ring there. If the mechanic is so nice to help you save money, he might not have replaced it. There was once years ago, a stupid shop i sent my bike to didnt do that. Coolant started leaking into my cyclinder and gave me alot of trouble. Idiots! Never went back there after that incident.

Lastly, I remember you were using the Polini block? So the gaskets that were reused are from your Polini block or the stock block? Need to check that too.

I just feel that this kind act of saving money should be highlighted to you atleast so you know. It is normal procedure to replace gaskets. Now you end up spending more..

Good luck!

I'm not sure if which and what gasket are changed cos i was not there when they did the swap.. as for the gearbox,i've no idea why isit leaking too.

regarding opening of cylinder head and changing of gaskets, larry would you kindly answer the question cos i've totally no idea what is done during the swap.

I feel that if it needs to be changed then you have to change it,and not save the $ for it which amounts to a bigger problem in the future.. eventually costing more $$$.

Guys, i'm planning on giving my Aprilia a top & btm rebuild :) Which piston and size should i get from PJME for my stock block?

Below is the selection of parts for my btm end rebuild. Would appreciate advices and comments :)

http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff100/crisisady/btmrebuild.jpg

Bro there is a bottom end rebuild kit. So u dun haf to buy all those parts seperately. I think its cheaper too.

Good qn about piston size. Im also trying to figure out what piston size im gona use. Based on what ive heard so far, the consensus is 53.98mm for the stock standard barrel.

Cause the rebuild kit gives budget gasket kit. I was looking to use the althena gasket kit~

Actually my upper block is still in a good condition. The last time ah seng help me check compression, it was around 120. But since i'm overhauling the btm block, i was thinking of doing the top as well to avoid another run in next time when i need to overhaul the top seperately. After all running in is a (*#((@

Some suckers must have thought it was funny and put a crack on my bike's front fairing today while she was happily parked at market street ... any bro can recommend where is good to get a new front fairing (& installed)?
