Ashraff, just to clarify, is it accepted that lean mixtures CAN cause engine seizure, and your question here is HOW? :)

Running your bike lean and seizing is not going to explain anything but just prove the theory right. It seems to me that you're curious about the theory.

And I think we need someone well versed in Physics to explain it. :) xxes123 majored in engineering, but I think his patience doesnt extend to us. So either we go find us a Physics professor, or we just accept this as one of life's mysteries.

I can understand your need to comprehend why and how etc, but sometimes, these things are beyond us. :) Have faith my boy.

Few years ago, some bikeshops said Ohlins didnt make a specific shock for the RS125. I proved them wrong. Some say, Sharkskinz doesnt make race fairings for the RS125, i ordered a set 2 years ago. Ignorance might be bliss at times. and a pain in others. You've done so much homework, unlike others here.

Let's just move on. Hehe. All this reading is giving me a headache. :)

My theory is that a lean mixture does not cause a seizure per se, but the effects that come about due to a lean mixture might cause the seizure. Anyway im actually pretty psyched that our bro xxes123 is here to provide solid physics to the debate. Its always nice to have someone whos well versed in the topic to talk about it, rather than some tom **** or harry. And if anything i would loved to be proved wrong or be "educated" by someone whos knows his stuff, so please any mistakes in whatever ive wrote or stated, dont hold back and spare no effort to lambast me. After all physics and chemistry were never my favourite subjects back in school. I promise i wont take anything personally. Im just a guy who wants to learn =D

Bt u see even a physics professor might not be able to answer this qn. What started off as a simple google search on "why does lean mixture cause seizure" led me to so much reading and finding out that this topic is actually a very debatable one and there are 2 camps supporting different theories.

Don't listen to the BOSS. The reading is great and I wish I could join in since page 948 but I'm surfing on my phone & it takes me forever to type. I used to debate with this other Aprilia rider all the time about technical theories like this. Sadly he is no longer riding.

I can explain seizure to u but that'll have to wait till I'm back on Mon.

I have been waiting for u to comment! It would be interesting to hear your inputs to this =D

Nope it wasn't me. I bought my bike fully stock and slowly add mods to test the difference :D going down 37motoring later. Machine gun at rpm 5-6 again.

Maybe you can try changing idle jet to 38? See if that helps. Empty airbox I presume?

Yeah can try a 38 pilot. My previous setting on my bike with airbox on was 38pilot, dp 264 atomiser, 152main, needle on topmost clip(leanest). Bike ran almost perfectly, except for slight sputter at 7-8k rpm.

Was at the Dainese Pro Shop yesterday. It's sad that Dainese is so prohibitively expensive here in SG, because Dainese is actually a very affordable common brand in Europe.

Check out what's behind the Ducati showroom...

Along Grande-Armêe, where I do all of my shopping in Paris while the rest of the girls are at Champs-Elysees buying Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc... that's the Arc de Triomphe in the background on the right...

Check out the prices of Dainese in Europe... I so wanna get this gorgeous pair of shoes in full black...

The price of a top of the line mesh jacket that's really cool for our weather... S$290 after deducting the VAT refund.

Quick question to fellow RS125 riders ... When riding at 90+, the handle bar on my bar vibrates quite violently ... I can ride it for probably 20-30mins before my hands go numb ... is it normal?

Not normal, mine is smooth. Is ur bar end balancer the stock one?

No, it's a new one, came with the sliders. I went to Kenny 123 Bike Trading and asked him to readjust it + pump the tyres ... but somehow it was vibrating a lot still ... when going over hump I feel like my suspension is not really working at all ... time to go back to Kenny again?

Hi guys, I'd like to learn more about tuning and I think it'd be fun learning and doing the DIY tuning on my own italian horse, anyone keen to teach? hahahaa

btw, I also like to know the difference between, Arrow/Jim Lomas/Gianelle/Jolly Motor exhaust systems and their performance wise/sound wise differences?

Any tips?

Yo guys, i'm ordering this half bike cover from amazon. Dowco 26015-00 Guardian Traveler. I will make the order on Sunday 2359H, so do let me know if you are interested.

More info, Dowco 26015-00 Guardian Traveler

As amazon only ship this in US, it will be shipped over to my US Addr at comgateway. Thus, i'm unable to determine the shipping charges now but i'm estimating a SGD$5 to 10 per piece depending on how many orders there are.

Reason why i choose a half bike cover is because of the exhaust and chain. My current bike cover is ruined by the stains left by both of them :(

P.S i will only proceed your order only if i have received deposits from you so if you are uncomfortable about that, please pass on this :)

Charged and changed to a new battery today, stalled while I was at Changi Hospital and finally towed it to 37 motoring.

Definitely not the battery problem. Is the wheezing sound (like a horse dying?) when pressing the e-start button normal?

A lot of mitos at 37 motoring just now, have yet to see any Aprilians there!

Starter motor worn out... Ask ahseng do 90$ ... But I did myself only 30$ :D

Hopefully that's the only problem. I think my carb out of tune also, sputtering between 4-6 RPM...

hi guys ,just wanna ask is it advisable to get a 2bd hand aprilia rs125 ?

Ask yourself these 2 qns first.

1) Do you have deep pockets?

Maintenance is not cheap, lots of workshop out to carrot us. So unless you are very resourceful, willing to meet up with the existing ARC ppl to learn more and dont mind getting things done yourself, you are throwing money into yet another bottomless pit. These Italian beast maybe only 125cc, but its a 2stroke engine which means that you are getting twice the power cycle of a 4stroke. In layman terms, you are looking at the power of a 250cc 4stroke bike. However, all these power comes at a price, you have to fed the fineness fuel, 2T and maintain it like its your "Prrreeeccciooouusssss".

Fuel consumption is around 20km/l to 25km/l for a stock bike. However, its hard to find a 2nd hand aprilia that isn't stock. And if the bike isn't well tune, u will get screwed up consumptions. Only "very" well tune bike will be able to achieve stocks consumptions or even better.

2) Do you intend to upgrade to 2A?

Don't bother getting this beast unless you got deep pockets. But then again, there aint any gd looking 2A bikes out there either.

My advice to you, if you really set your mind on getting a 2nd hand, you might want to invite one of the senior ppl here to accompany you and test the bike. But the unspoken rule in here is you must treat them makan. Having trouble identifying the senior ppl? Read up the past 10 pages of post :)

Hi Chris,

I hope u haven't already ordered this item, because I made one myself.

Well, not exactly. I bought the full sized cover from Ah Boy for S$10; cut the bottom half off; then paid a seamstress $15 to hem it together with a drawstring in the hem, and a bootlace tightener so I can tighten it

Total cost is $25.

If u really want a kickarse cover, I recommend the Geza Gear cover. I can show it to u if u come for my next DIY on 26 Apr.
