HAHAHA! I've got a friend who rides the r125. i don't quite like the sound of it.

If you are getting a bike because of the sound, I think it's kinda pointless.

I'm a noob who have been stalking this thread and other threads just to improve on my knowledge but I couldn't tahan when I saw this lol. Pardon me please.

Guys, i bump into an 8 years old RS125 at e bikeshop..mileage is unbelievably below 1k.. i believe its genuine coz its only 1 owner n tyre is made in year 2002 with lotsa thread remainig.. every single part is original. only setback is rust everywhere due to weather. Most concern is e front shocks rust..

Question is:

1. If engine hardly used like that izzit goin to be as good as new or the opposite effect?? thats not even complete run in..engine sound very soft tho..starter motor n battery seems need to replace also.

2.The rust on the front shock, the chrome parts, can it be removed or must change shock? what do u seniors think?? izzit a steal? haha...i suppose to get a facelift model, but now i'm so tempted..

Thanks for your respond n opinion bros !

Maybe there are such people out there who would actually buy char kway teow just to eat the fried lard; rojak for the tau gey; chicken rice just for the cucumbers? Different strokes for different folks.

My Ducati Monster with stock exhausts sounds softer than the R125, so I can understand where he's coming from... The R125 sounds very weak compared to the gorgeous screaming whine of a single cylinder 2-stroke RS125, almost sounds like a farting hippo next to a ferocious screaming eagle (not those Screaming Eagles on a HD), so I guess based on sound alone even the most ignorant layman would choose the RS125...

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

1) there may be lots of accumulated dirt and the engine oil wouldn't be in the best state. I would send it for a full overhaul. you wouldn't know what is going on in there after it has been left 'untouched' for 8 years. just factor in the cost for full overhaul into the price they quoted you for the bike.

2) you could probably polish it back but it will never be in it's best condition and the rust will most probably come back again. this will mean changing seals and fork oil every now and then. $90 for both at Seng. just change the whole fork to post 06.. lol. if budget just get another pair of used forks. Factor in the price for the pair of used forks.

After factoring in all the costs for the worst case scenario, you would have known if it is worth it to get this bike.

IMO, just get the post 06 models which you have intended initially. I bet you will start to fault this 'good deal' if there is any issues with it and blame yourself for not getting the post 06 models.

1. A hardly used (probably not even run-in proper) engine and it's been sitting in storage for close to a decade? FULL OVERHAUL, nothing less. Engine oil and coolant has probably dried up and caked onto the walls of the channels and hoses. The radiator and coolant hoses must be flushed and scrubbed. The engine must be fully overhauled, in fact, you should send it for blueprinting.

2. Rust on the stanchion tubes of the fork will never go away, even after polishing. They will trap dirt and grime and migrate it into the internals of the fork, damaging the oil seals and contaminating the fork oil. Not worth the hassle.

I have a pair of 2003 forks in good condition.

Thanks again for the advice Lacrimosae.. Apparently its a hardly ridden bike due to owner driving cars, problem is that i assume that bike was just left in e open carpark all the while by owner.. Then i hav a question, how do we keep our stanchion forks away from rust then?

I use a pair of custom made neoprene fork boots from US (sealed, sewn as a cylindrical sleeve without a velcro opening: gotta remove entire forks and slip them on from the top) with special fork grease inside. Just need to remove and clean it maybe once a year. The boots prevent stones and gravel from hitting the stanchion tubes and chipping/scratching them. The grease reduces stiction and keeps water off the surface.

I can order a few sets in if there is a demand for them. It cost me S$35 per pair (shipping was an insane $52.80 for 2 sets; overnight express), so total was about S$60 per pair. If there's an order for 5 sets, cost of shipping will go down and I will definitely request for a cheaper shipping option. They all fit into an envelope.

I'm buying a pair for my Ducati. Need to find 4 more interested riders.

Luckily it isn't your rossi helmet. By the way, how much did you got the helmet? Heard it's around 600?

been some time since i kpo here..

SMSA BRS round 4 150 cc race, Aprilia RS finally manage to break the hold of the KRs, 3rd in class... after engine slacking for the last 2 races, the settings are almost right, weight loss is the objective now, we seeing how far we can go with extreme reduction in weight without compromising handling.

and sparky... so when u coming over for Viacom inspection of my bike? hahahaha :p
