Dont think I will do any mods on the bike Eyz..........I cant justify the $$$ to pwr ratio I get for spending that amt of money to say a bigger Cc bike...........

Add an Arrow.....how much more pwr do I really get?

Of course there is a difference, but this is fly by the pants of your seat kind of "dyno testing".........is $800 bucks worth 1-2 horses?

To each his own..........this is just my point of view.......

nah.. i'm not refering to ya..

i'm refering to jie liang...

he got a polini block under his tank which i felt is a bit restricted with the stock settings..

all those mod which i mentioned are for him..

haha

like ya say, to each is his own.. we have fren like edmund who enjoy his souped up 125

aprilia heat up very fast when it's not moving...

turn off ya engine and push ya bike when ya caught in the jam...

1 more thing is, our bike's electrical system is very sensitive...

installing too many electrical stuffs will worsen it...

i once had alarm and headlight on'off switch..

whenever it rains, problem many many...

haha... now all gone...

What coolant you using?...

Usually at customs i let my engine run but will be engage on neutral gear, only when i move off then i clutch in to first gear, i find that if you hold first gear all the way , your bike will get even hotter.... anw 90++ is danger zone, highest i hit is 88 and i was stuck at customs 5am in the morning for 1 hour...

firstly our bike got space to put fan meh? secondly your batt can take it anot?

Always be prepared.

ARROW:nono:

jollymoto suits better for new RS so more same pattern ROV see liao also LL :cheeky:

fan is useless with RS125, leg power lagi better...... thinks it will invoke how our bikes over heat one by one during the MAH ride :giddy:

eyez is rite , aprilia is very fragile in terms of electric systems, the more things u add the more problems u have later on..

new valve i heard from jasper is $120 at wing yup (i not confirm) or $140 at WEIda(Confirm), valve are killers for newbies, once u learn how to clean then no more problems unless the valve motor not properly setup... u too late post liao, i jus lend my extra valve to jasper

jielang, muz remenber all APRILIAN are CHAMPIONS push starters , :goodluck:

u should try to push start in a causeway jam using 1m of allowance ..unforgetable....o_O try pushing ur bike from city sq traffic lite junction to shell petrol ksiok (run out of petrol).. priceless... this are all the "fond" memories my "wife" gives me every now and then... :pity: :pity:

cant start bike and got electricity , no cranking means batt flat = batt spoilt or batt not charging.... batt not charging =coil weak or reactifier got problems , maybe got wires melt down at reactifier(did u start stop a lot of times and rode for a long time)

to be safe about your valve, try to hit 7-8k rpm from 2nd gear onwards.....if you are worry that your speed is high at 6th gear,well...drop it to 4-5th gear to maintain the road legal speed...yup,your bike may sounds a little more noisy, but its ok....that fact about 2 stroke....weather you wack or don...it will fall sick....its the trademark about it....enjoy riding!

A few clarifications ah.. Blur liao

7-8k rpm, the valve still haven't open what. Mine opens after 8k rpm. So if ride at 7-8k rpm (valve still closed) isn't it the same as ride at 5-6k rpm (valve also still closed). Then valve still get jammed right?

dude, you're riding a rs250 right? 4-5th gear at 7-8k rpm can maintain legal speed on the road??? Erm.. On my 3rd gear, at 7k rpm, reach 80+ kmh already. Then how???

Eeeks...

Don't be siao leh.. Install alarm, install fan.. You will fry your electrical stuff for sure..

Solutions:

1) Push bike

2) Go causeway only when no jam

I usually push to the 9-10k rpm sweet spot to change gear (the spot where opening the throttle anymore will cause a drop in power). So valve definitely will be open. Then dropped to 7.5-8k rpm cruising speed, valve should stayed open. I seldom use the sixth gear unless I wanna hit 150km and above. Everyone have their own riding style? Just play around until you find a style that you are comfortable with.

Actually my riding style is pretty much the same as urs. I always open valve from the 2nd gear onwards cos I scared that the valve will get jam. My cruise is usually 8k rpm in whichever gears depending on the speed limits of the road. But I still get 260-280km. There was once I even hit 300km before I need to switch to reserve. The funny thing is I usually never service my bike unless something is not working. Like getting harder to hit neutral gear, time to change my gear oil etc.

Guys, I think u are having a small misconception on the purpose of the powervalve and its maintenance. Riding with and open valve all the way is not really gona help much. Especially riding at 4th gear or 5th gear at 9+ rpm !! Engine Stress and this not even on track. What u need to take note is on the carb settings. To rich for normal roads aint gona help u other than buring a hole in your pockets. Riding the same way u do is gona wear down more things than u might imagine. Sit back and think about it. Instant power when valve on semi-open position but at the expense of faster piston wear, uncomfy ride etc. Stuck valves is a common issue. But at the rate u guys are maintaining ur bikes, it does really take much more than a quick 15minutes even by the side of the road to clear that ugly carbon stain of the valve if u do it every week. Been there done that even on my ex bike. Check with the pioneers.

My ex bike was near stock form. Modded milo, boyesen reedvalves, 34mm carb, thinner base gasket for higher compression ratio. All that for 22km/l travelling at 100km on expressways and occasional bursts with weekly valve cleansing. But if u get a lesser mileage say 15 - 17km/l for an arrow, that would be fine. My fazer currently on 17km/l so i do understand the pinch some of u are feeling.

Some of u ask how u got that mileage, well, im not an expert. I just "felt it" plus all the tips available on the net like the spark plug comparisons etc.
