Hi guys!

just got my bike today (tuono 125). a barely used, not completely run in used bike; and i am going for a long ride tomorrow till sunday. (duh, not riding continuously hor...)

this is where i need your help:

what is the run in procedure? i have heard many stories : do not exceed 100 km/h (Mah salesman); do not whack the bike; whack the bike; whack the bike, but do so gently (oxymoronic i know); make sure you use engine brake, and others. Not to insult the people who gave me this advice, but i really would like to get more opinions, AND experiences - especially those who have managed to run in their own machines: How did you run in, and how does your bike perform now, what are some shortcomings in your bike's performance, and what would you have changed if you could run it in again?

people keep saying that how the bike is run in greatly influences the bike's performance eventually, but i have not heard owners' experiences. So, i hope people here can help and contribute what they have learnt.

saw at tuono 125 at boon lay coffeeshop last nite in th wee hrs, is it u??

there isnt a perfect method. jus only which method u will have a ease of mind.. some fear running in whack will piston jam , some feel this method the piston ring seals better... up to individual... jus try not to redline the engine above 11k during run in can liao... other than tat nothing much..so long u feel safe and at ease can liao...

strictly speaking abt maintance , 2 strokers overhual every yr around 10,000km (UK standard) to 25,000 Km(singapore standard) so even if u do wrongly this time jus change to another method next.....

:sian: 1 month since overhual i use 3000 km liao, , need to save up for another overhual in june again: giddy:

hey edwin i can beat you hands down... 10 days into running in, 1.5k KM... kaoz....when i took over bike not even 2k.. now already reaching 9K...wahha.. :faint:

Lap timer. Usually ignored on the street, damn handy on the track.

the bike already somewhat run in by previous owner up to 1300 km, now my turn. i guess i will take the advice, dun redline, dun stay in one rev for looooong time, and play with speeds, gears.

Look on the bright side bro, all the exercise will also help your track riding - pro racers go through a lot of physical training. Remember us mentioning on the ARC forum that we should get an ARC exercise group going? Well maybe we should, heheh :cheeky: I remember spiderman, Benguin and servo being interested.
