that means its alrite if i use other clutch cable instead of aprilia clutch cable?? nw so sianz bo money liao argh...

as long as they are the same length & thickness and the end tip "catches" are the same.

i've used before 'chiong' ones. abit too long but still work...check your clutch lever(most probly i think its chiong one) for any sharp edges or hindering of the cable when clutching in and out. continuous scuffing of the cable with the edges will one day cause your cable to kink and start to fray. once it starts to fray, it wont be long before it snaps.

How come cable broke twice in a yr? Broken easily?

abrasion. used "chiong" clutch lever haha, plus cable also chiong one lol. Originals are too expensive.

Those who ride before rs125 be it extrema, replica, y2k versions would feel that they have to REALLY use the clutch alot compared to other 2b bikes :p More use, more wear & tear. :D

Thats why no one recommends to get a 2nd hand aprilia.

clutch plates $100plus i think. i never changed before. normally what i heard is clutch housing loose is a common problem but u should still be able to change gear. where did u send for checking? u cant change gear? or cant clutch in? or?

I went hkl they say clutch plate and housing need to be change... then i went to my motordiam they sort of tighten up nw can at least clutch in but then no use the clutch is veri lose and can change gear but is veri hard and the bike hard to get to netural. i kick first to second gear need tons of strength it is darm hard to kick like a few years never change kena stuck like that...

anyway my ex-gsxr also used to display hard to change gear symtoms from 1st to second, neutral damn hard to get. down gears feels like it stucked. Then i went and got my clutch plates changed, the whole thing is feels like new liao.

well for my ex-aprilia, when i went for servicing, ahboon from ideal commented that my clutch housing also loose, but i have no problems with shifting gears. just that 'clutch out' there is some very soft loose clanking noise, but when clutch in the sound disappears. he says no need to change as most old aprilias are like that.

so i belief changing your clutch plates(i dunno for aprilia, if u can buy the clutch plates seperately or if it comes in one whole unit together with the housing anot) will help alot :p and there might not be a need to change your housing as that will cost like 400bucks. But of cos, im not a mech so u'd might as well seek the opinion of other mechs...

dunt know where ideal motors is? i can bring you there(but they are expensive:D) 1st motors at ubi is pretty good in aprilias as well, also ah kiong/ah ken at hkl(the rest can forget it) also good in aprilias.

can just check with u all, how do u guys maintain the electrics of the aprilia...heard cleaning it every now and then plus greasing the contact bits help a lot.

thing is, should clean the terminal contacts with simple electric contact cleaner from sim lim tower

for greasing the contact bits, what shoudl we be using? just plain vaseline from ntuc?

can give a rough step-by-step guide on how to change the clutch cable? do u need the special tool as stated in the aprilia manual

Better to be loved, than to hate...

hmmm i dunt remember any special tool though. u dunt do this every day so u wont remember exactly enough to put it up on paper on how its done just by doing it once or twice in a yr. its more of a when u see it, u'll know thing. just take a look at mech do it, or u can bring your bike down and i can show u. i'll only remember when i see it. at the same time i can show u how to wash e valve, adjust the solenoid etc...

for electrics just wd40 them will do. Contact cleaner will do fine as well but try not to get it on rubbers/plastics.

i've not used grease or seen anyone use it though, dun think its a good idea as it worsens the electrical contact. unless thats terminal that u wont be accessing it frequently.

Think HKL is a bit costy.. That time they quoted my brake caliber at 60++ but in the end, i got it done at Ideal at only 40+...
