Track Etiquette

On the last trackday Monday 2nd Jan 2006, I noticed whilst out on the track that there were a number of riders (don't know who they were but a few Singaporean plates) who were waving riders to slow down when the yellow or red flag came out because of accidents.

 

This was a good idea because once a few started slowing down, most followed. If you see anyone at the track doing any of the following, try and take the time to politely let him/her that this is against the regulations, doing it again could get them banned or worse injured/killed.

 

PLEASE DON'T

> Crossing the white line on the Pit exit

> Stopping on the track for any reason except breakdown or crash

> Taking shortcuts anywhere across the track

> Not using the correct pits entry

 

 

 

Just to list some of them. If enough riders take the responsibility to do this, very soon these type of incidents will become less and less common. Please remember when telling anyone this that you're not trying to be an obnoxious pompous arsehole but just want to make sure no-one gets hurt. At the same time, these regulations are not negotiable.

 

It isn't just the marshals responsibility to do this- they just clear up the mess. It's ours too cause chances are one of us will be unwittingly involved

Ok I clarify. The payment required are for the riders going into the track to play. Spectators pay the gate entry fee on the day itself which is RM2. So if u not playing, dont need to come unless want to chill out with me lar. hehe..

Great advice. Especially the pit lane exit one.

 

One more advice that was given to me by one of the regulars is.... after exiting the pit, don't be in a rush to tackle the 1st two corners. Let the ppl who're already at race pace take them. Stay off the line first. U can start having fun T3 onwards and next lap.

 

 

PS. Watch out for T9. She's a real b1tch... Tighter than anything at PG. I actually ran off the track there on my 3rd lap 'cos I was too fast. And that "fast" was already quite slow. So watch out there!

Turn 9 L-shaped??? More like V-shaped!

 

T11 is also another tricky one. Sort of like a decreasing radius. It's a gentle bend, then suddenly *Wham* 90 degrees. I saw a number of bikes crashing out there that day, including one high-side case.

 

Have fun, but remember the ultimate aim is to ride home in one piece.... at least, that was my objective that day!
