Some questions:

There were many other riders that WERE able to translate their speed from 2 strokes to 4s, contrary to what you said, so what about them? Should only those that ARE able to translate their speed be in expert and those that cannot be in novice? Who is going to make this call and will it be dependent on lap times, race wins, podiums…etc??? It would be ridiculously complicated if it were like that.

If you are fast, you will be fast whether the bike be a Busa, R1, DRZ, 125z. It just all depends on how quick you can learn how to ride it. If you take too long, then you need more practice so get out there.

Let me tell you, it's the rider. Whoever says that 250 riders coming up to 600s (or other similar situations) should be in Novice because it's hard to translate their speed to a different bike is talking crap.

So, if you one of those that take longer to learn, you go to Novice? How do you quantify this? Gut feeling? Honesty? Lap times? In the end it again becomes ridiculously complicated since every entry will be on a case by case basis.

Yeah, there are some who got away. So who wants to be the next person to "get away with it" and race under a dark cloud of suspicion & doubt? Be my guest.

Level Playing Fields?

There are many other people that have gone through what spidey (not taking anything away from Spidey) in worse categories. You think 250s/supersport is unfair? Try Superbike where there are NO RULES, going up against HRC spec custom built 190 bhp fireblades, the best of Italian sporting twins in various guises and full on race teams before you talk about unlevel playing fields. Or even Asia Pacific where you full pro teams and blueprinted race bikes? Your fellow Singapore superbikers in the past MSS seasons were giving away at least 20-30 bhp to the top 7-8 bikes, but still managed to get inside the top 7 every now and then.

Looks like whoever thinks this way better give up racing altogether, or go into smaller categories instead of going up. It’s just going to get worse and more complaining will follow.

Do any of the superbikers complain about that and say it’s unfair and wants to stay in the novice category? No, they suck it up, shut up and ride and try their best to show that THE RIDER can make a difference, voicing their opinions on fairness when they can sensibly, instead of looking for ways to get into an easier grid. Or if they can’t afford it, just stop racing until you can.

You talk about not enjoying racing because of the struggling for results. To me, that is the fatal flaw, because those following this path are expecting results and dont enjoy yourself when you dont get them. Go on like this and you will make enemies out of friends and ruin your life since everything becomes so serious.

Racing is supposed to be FUN. I stopped because I started losing friends, destroying myself and knew that I was not good enough to make up the difference with what I had to race with.

All of us were much closer when it was just trackdays, which is where I'll be for now - lost too many friends already because it became too damn serious.

But that aint an excuse for not playing by the rules!
