It's a matter of probability. Test rides are short, in isolated places and one-off events.

Encountering a road block? I find it ironic that the day is safer than night for illegal riders. I've only encountered a roadblock once in daytime in 4 years of riding, and that was just casual inspection (no stopping).

i have seen so on more than 1 occasion. although they jux casually drive around the car park twice.

anyway... my opinion still stands... never buy a bike b4 u get the required class of license becoz there will always be a better deal in time to come

FYI, u do not need to be on the move to be deemed as riding without a valid license. even starting the engine is not allowed. if i rem correctly, u could be charged with intention to ride without a valid license if u sit on the bike with the key in the ignition but engine not running. the odds never look good when u try to play around with the law

in my 25 years of staying in a few condos, i have never seen a patrol car patrolling or drive in the carparks.

Unless they are here for official duties, they will park at the ground level vistor lots.

Moreever, in most condo's basement/MSCP carparks, you will need your IU to be registered with the system or have a RF-card in your car before the barricade will open up for you.

how can any tom, **** or harry just drive into a private carpark?

i thought that you are allowed to drive or ride whatever you want in private land? but only required to have valid road tax and insurance when riding on public road? nt too sure on that

i believe there isnt much damage control you could do as you were caught in a road block.. plead guilty and pray for the best.

hmm... perhaps i jux happen to be in the condo that u did not stay in? or perhaps they were there responding to a call? whichever case it is, they were there & i saw them while i was warming my bike. they went 2 rounds in the car park b4 leaving.

btw, the condo that i happen to be in, there are 2 barriers at the front gate. 1 for tenants with transponders in their vehicles & the other for visitors that has to be manually opened by the security guards at the gate house.

No one is advising anyone to do anything.

We are simply stating it's not against the law to test-ride another motorcycle in a private property/carpark.

A 13-14 years old boy drove an Audi R8 in the carpark, it was all over the internet and local news.

Lawyers The New Paper spoke to said the boy may not have committed a criminal offence even though he had been driving without a licence because he did not drive the car on a public road.

Under the Road Traffic Act, it is illegal for a person below 18 to drive a motor vehicle on a road. In this case, 'road' is defined as one to which the public has access.

i think the thread originator has got the point already... after all, he is not asking for your stones, he is asking for advice for a terrible mistake he has done. in our life, we will come across people (or we ourselves would have done something wrong despite being told not to), adding fuel to the fire is easy to do, but being kind and helpful is also not very hard to do.

i've always tried to drill it into other fellow forumers who wish to buy a bike b4 they pass their TP test that temptations will over-rule the ability to think rationally

u r the perfect living example of why u should not buy a bike when u dun have the valid license to ride it

thanks for making my point & no... there is absolutely no case for you to appeal

in the event that u try to delay the case & appeal... u mite be slapped with an even heavier punishment
