Recommend that u check properly if its the coil spoilt or the rectifier spoilt, cos both item cost ard the same. But workmanship to change Rectifier is as good as none, jus have to remove right compartment can change liao..

$550 is VERY MUCH SUPERCHARGE !

i remember i bought the coil myself at FJT for $270 if i'm correct. Price is confirm >$200.

Workmanship: Depends..Shld take 1 day's work to get it done properly. cos hav to remove quite a few things and need to clean up the mating surface.

:goodluck:

cant possible to change both at the same time bro..usually is the coil spoilt..if u got multimeter, check the continuity of all the 3 output wire (yellow colour) to the bike frame.

**REMOVE the 3 pin plug of the output wire b4 testing.**

**IF there is continuity of any wire to the bike frame, then ur coil is burnt**

**IF its not then its rectifier**

No problem, BUT if he say repair cost $500, i tink u can jus tow ur bike to sporting motor and find Meng Tong.

Around march this year the price for Swing400 is 17.5k OTR and this is not the GT version, asked both Looi's and ASP. At 16.5k for GT should be good price if its OTR. I think Looi's will always qoute price inclusive of all charges, they dont hide here and there.

Wish Santa will drop some cash into my stocking..... I promise to be a good boy.:p

I double chk n triple chk. Asked machine is 14.5k. ask otr plus this n that is 16.5k w/ insure tpft and its the white black gt+abs version. it got new headlight, new tail light, got the mode button. I look here look there n thats the 1 and only silverwing in the showroom. Catch is, u have to loan at least 10k for 1yrs min. if u wan cash, otr is 17k.

I LOVE my R1!!!:shades:

If compare NEW SW price between shops, then 16.5k otr should be quite ok.

If compare with Burgman4 or Majesty4 then that price is too high.

If really got 16.5k to spare... FZ6 at 12.5k still got spare $$ for HB boxes...

I'm an uncle turning 27 next yr. I need a scooter which can put alot of things under the seat.

Thats the reason I sold of my damn r1 which can't even put a small pouch in it....

So the only choices ard r maxi scoot.

wanna know whether that's a reasonable price? check out these motortiams and compare their OTR quotes (remember to do apple-to-apple comparisons hor):

* Looi's (you've already went)

* Bike Production

* ASPhoon

* Mah

these are the regular places where SWingers are "morphed" :cheeky:

the SW is a heavy machine alright, not the fattest maxi around, but i think its the longest :lol:

you'll love its weight once you get used to it, and you'll appreciate its stability even more when you go up the windy shears bridge or go touring :thumb:

burger4? suggest check out the more updated majesty4. from the forum, the maggy has much more options for aesthetic enhancements and also better resale value than the burger. another important consideration is, what kind of aftersales services (repairs/spares) you can get; Hong Leong (yammy) vs. Guan Hoe (suzs) :cool:

do note that both the burger and maggy run on a single bore engine unlike SW which is on in-line twin... you should get faster pickups on them coz they're much lighter n on single cylinder, but you won't get the stability n silky smooth engine at higher speed ranges for highway commuting n touring. many SWingers (including myself) have cruised comfortably to/fro thailand at 130+kph on NSH :thumb:

you get some, you loose some... see what you prefer lor

erm, the k9 burger is inline twin. it has a rear monoshock and 2 disc up front. it got bigger boot space. but I do agree wid the resale value and aftersales from guanhoe...

as for stock brand new, heard that burger got clutch issues n the brakes not that gd.

as for sw, the new facelift be it gt or non gt not sure, but the older version's complaint was the fork not too gd. and I realli dun like the idea of combined braking. it makes sharp turnin ard the carpark hard when the front brake comes into play. But nevertheless, I nv doubt honda's reliablity.

From my past experience with no charging on my JDM SW, mainly is the coil spoil.

It started off with like once in awhile when starting the bike, the digital meter(right side of the meter) will reset

Then it became almost everytime when starting the bike, its like that then not long after, found that coil is spoil:(

But might be the batt is weak also that might cos this... but so far both time of my encounter, it's the coil that is spoil.

As for the rectifier, if encounter irregular charging voltage, this might be the signal that it's spoil... (pls correct me if I am wrong) :)

But does anyone know if there's anyway to prevent the coil from getting burnt/spoil that fast??? Cos last time my S4, almost 70k then up the lorry but my previous JDM SW coil up the lorry around 20plus K..... Recently my euro SW also start to have that reset thing.... although not that often... scare that it will soon be my turn to change the coil :( as batt just change like 1 year plus abit....

Parts price that I brought last time.... If I still remember correctly,

Coil - $280,

Rectifier - $140,

Batt - $180.

Ya..i feel that the SW suspension too soft(setting 2)....when i turning into expressway at slow speed...sometimes will feel the rear fish tail a bit...esp on the white arrow( or the stock tires too lousy?). Now increase setting to 4 and see how it goes.......as for the combined braking...the manual state that only when pull in the rear lever harder then the front brake comes into action, if pull in slightly only rear brake in action..

As for the burger...agree with the resale...my fren had a hard time selling his 650 exec. very few shop eating it only...and at a low value too.

GT is parallel import rite????AFAIK, boon siew boon bike dont have the mode button and the model printed is SW-T400.

one of our our bros got his replaced for about $320... more if also change new engine oil, some estimates:

* coil ... approx. $270

* labour to remove the side cover, replace coil & reseal ... $50

* engine oil ... depends on the eo u change but can recycle

(i got mine replace by BS on warranty, they recycled the eo)

can always take it out, they can't say no coz no "contract" agreed (even verbally) upon yet.

if refuse, can make police report your bike has been illegally retained :lol:

so sad... me Ah Pek liao. :cry:

My opinion:

For rider 90kg and below, rear setting can set at 3. * Soft for the backside but cornering not smooth becos rear is too low and it bounces a bit.

Above that or with pillion (total below 140kg), then set to 4.

Might be too bumpy for lone rider but corner very nice.

Number 5 for anything above that weight.

For info:

Hagon rear suspension at softest setting is equivalent to standard number 4 without the bumps. :thumb:

As for the front, won't go wrong with the Hyperpro. Just need to decide on the type of oil use for light or heavy feel.

Hyperpro from Motoworld about $240 and above without installation. Must bargain...

Lighter fork oil (weight 10) will make your bike feels like a scrambler or runner... can play around. * Mine.

Weight 15 oil will be more stable yet light enough to have some fun at corners. ** Scoobydoo currently using this but fully synthetic type.

Use weight 20 and your SW will feel like a ST11. *Standard Hyperpro fork oil that comes with the spring is 20wt.

Anybody knows whether got cover charge at St James Boiler Room on New Years Eve during Happy Hour 6pm-9pm?

Tiger beer supposed to be 3 for price of 1, with live Acoustic performance.

If really no cover charge and 3 for 1 promotion still holds, might just get everyone to drop by.
