confirmed with K&N local dealer (Sporting Motors P/L) that the filter is made for SW600 (see link below). salesperson also not sure if the HA-6002 is suitable for our SW400 even if it can fit.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=HA-6002

from a local mech, airflow rate designed for 600cc might be too "high" for our 400cc engine... might have to play with the air screw or use "sponge" to lower air flow, otherwise FC sure to suffer.

another school of thought is that airflow should be as free as possible for best performance...

which is which i also dunno liow :confused:

but i'ld tend to think free flow is good. but logically, gains in power usually comes with burning more gas :p

anyone familiar with this topic care to comment?

hey helmetBOX! ... any review since you're using the K&N filter :angel:

It can fit, BUT u'll have extra 1 screw left..cannot screw in. but it fit nicely la..i use for 2 yrs liao. not much diff la i feel..original better.

got it fitted yesterday after work... like you say, there's 1 screw near the centre with no hole to screw in.

probably i had too high an expectation after trying HelmetBOX!'s bike, initial feel is a tit bit disappointed coz was expecting a lot more... hahahaha :lol: but fact is, i only replace the air-filter and didn't re-tune the fuel-air mix. in theory, the fuel-air mix should have become leaner since there's higher airflow with the K&N. twitching the air-screw and i should be able to get more out of it. ironically, i also worry about FC becomes 23+ like some of the bros if set to run richer :faint:

here's my initial feel (before re-tune fuel-air)... didn't feel the gain in horses like what K&N claimed, acceleration is slightly smoother nia. bike for sure didn't shoot out :lol: a more signficant diff is the "engine brake" effect is less when i close throttle while riding, tested while riding at about 5k rpm (about 90+km/h) along straight stretch (KJE) with no traffic nearby. at least i got something out of the $125 investment. will play with the airscrew later and see if can get better output.

cheers

No need to adjust, the O2 sensor will help u adjust one. further more there will also be sensor at the air box there to regulate the amt of air goin into the chamber. So wat's there to tune ? Wash bike better, then waste time take so many things out..haha

I lazy type oso la.. :lol:

anyone notice the 2 aftermarket windshields used by the 2x SW in spin37's pic (signature part)? :cheeky:

That one I asked about it last year liao.

Didn't really go to buy cos I'm not comfortable with the shape and height.

Anyway, ppl change their mind pretty fast de... so I'll be looking at the Kappa ones instead. The aftermarket is still abt 4 inches taller than stock. I only need 3" extra...

just came back clocking a few hundred klics with the K&N. feels pretty good pulling bike from 90+ to top speed, acceleration seems faster than when using stock filter. didn't n no point checking FC cos was "pulling up" here n there plus blowing soot, so sure jialat jialat one.

thanks for feedback, i'll ride with current setup and see how; so far still happy with it.

i happen to be chatting with kenny (future scootering) last Fri and he said polini maxi speed control for SW400 is on promotion; $383 (without installation), workmanship $45... total $428

rollers are about 20g, 28.2g made for SW600 but don't know if compatible. note that you'll have to use polini's rollers ($45 per set) after change, think stock rollers can't fit due to size.

How's the bike performance?

If need reset tell me.

Bro,

From last top-up after meetup at East Coast till now, my wing had only clocked 220km.

Will do FC calculations at 300km when i top up to full tank again.

Now currently left 3 bars of Fuel left at 220km.

Now currently left 3 bars of Fuel left at 220km.

as a quick reference, my FC about 25+km/l when...

. 1st bar gone about 90+km

.. indicator at "half" tank about 190+km

... reserve blinker appears about 300~305km

if this bar goes off after 230+km, you're on good course for near 25km/l coz my last few bars clocks about 34km before hitting reserve :angel:

Same same as mine:

1st bar goes off = 95km

2nd = 125km

3rd = 155km

4th (half way) = 195km

5th = 225km

6th = 255km

7th (blink blink) = 295km

But I normally can only pump 11.8L when blink so = 25km/L.
