u ask abt whether to buy a tmax or silverwing in a tmax thread, of cos people in this thread will ask u to get the tmax.

Of cos tmax is faster cos the final drive is chain driven. Unlike the silverwing's final drive being belt driven.

I know here's more pro-TMax la... juz wanna hear from those who may have rode both SW and (now) TMax. :cheeky: e.g. like know I know TMax final drive is chain and SW is belt.

I have rode the Max for 6 months and I need to thank Tua Goo aka Big Cow (peace bro ) for opening my eyes to the final drive issue. Fish! all this while I thought the Max was belt driven:slapforehead:.

Yes, the Tmax's final drive is chain driven. But do not be mistaken. Cos there is still belt & rollers that need to be check and change when due.

Rain water may seep into the rider's backrest holes?? Thanks for sounding that out - I better retract my X9 back rest!

From what I read, getting 25km/L from TMax is not possible when riding in city. But why would TMax not suitable for long-distance riding?? Is it because its fuel tank is 14 Litres?? Over-heating? How about to K.L. or Cameron Highlands?

I read that Piaggio XEvo 400 can achieve 27KM/L @ 90kph.

This is the TMax on sale and it is 2004 FY Plate.

Err... anyone care to go with me to view the bike tmr, Sat 1130am? :p Could use some advice as I know little about scooters.

SO did u view the bike?

Me too. I also sold my very done up Honda Blackbird for the Tmax. However, there were mixed feeling amongst my riding group. Some also think that i am nuts but i do know a few who also like the Tmax. Only put off is that they have committed to other bikes already and also of the high new selling price.

I have committed myself to a 2008 model rear box rack from Yamaha that can also mount their backrest. Both are from Yamaha and are avaliable from Hong Leong thru' an order. Should be receiving by next week.

There is also a new rear rack model 2009 but cannot mount any rear backrest. Frankly speaking, from the order pictures the 09 model looks more refine than the 08 model. But however, my wife wants a backrest, so she will have a backrest even if the rear rack mountings are not "so chio".

At the present moment slowly looking for things to do up the Tmax, still thinking hard on the lower sports screen. Saw the one on Swing 7777 and is from Givi. Like the curves but there is also a simpler one also from Yamaha but in smoke color. Well eventually have to settle for one and already have use up the piggy bank to buy the backrest and rack, so have to be cool and not spend so much these days.
