I also heard abt this.... Is it true? Was thinking of getting the racing footrest but can it be used with the drum rear brakes? Is it a must to convert to rear disk brake? Pls enlighten me bros tks!

I've seen drum brakes with racing footrest working very well. :shades:

it's not a must ....but i thought it will be better to convert so i juz give it a try loh ... in the end oso brakeless... knn sibei sian loh .....

anyone got any advice ....

Like duo said, it can be either one of the problems that he stated, but i believe its the bleeding. :shades:

B4 the above rule gets implemented, wannna ask a tech qn.Can use rear brake disc with stock footrests?cos i don't like racing rearsets. :cheeky:

Stock 125z is Nissin caliper?

1. A rear disc brake conversion will pass inspection. Provided it has all the proper brake lights working and everything is secured properly. Meaning a proper job is done and not cable tied down :p However, LTA officers can sill issue summons if they're smart enough to see that it's not originally from the bike. Means illegal modification. Boils down to proper installation to make it clean again.

2. Racing footrests can be used with drum brakes, that's what most cub prix racers are using. Advantages are because it's light and easier to maintain. On the track u don't usually use ur back brakes. Most of the braking is done with the front. The rear u just feather the brakes. But for road use, if u have the money, go for the disc conversion. Brakes will save ur life. Eddictive will vouch for that. Racing footrests are also illegal but will pass inspection if u have the brake lights working and if it is installed properly.

Not really. The reason why drum brakes are not so effective on racing footrests is because of the leverage. Look at how big the stock brake pedals are. Racing footrests are designed to be light. Racing mah. Drum brakes can run, pulled either from top or bottom. It's just not as effective when u brake backwards than forward.

And he has spoken

I have seen this before... The disc is mounted on an insert which is placed inside the rim which looks like something for your drum brake... Very similar... How good is it?? I rather go for the real deal... My 0.02 cents...

They use the sprocket hub from another bike, took the standard rims, and use very long nuts and bolts to attach the whole sprocket hub to the bike. The concept is similar to the sprocket hub side, just that it's bolted down and there's bushings for clearence. Works well IMO. And the process is reversible! Just take out the "sprocket hub" and u can use ur drum brakes again.

Ur standard pipe must be quite loud then? Or the pipe u buy very very silent? Or u change to another stock pipe?

Just changing to an aftermarket pipe doesn't immediately increases the bikes performance. I'll leave the rest of the comment to the gurus like hakim, eddictive, duo & slackspark. Like slackspark said, i only know how to BBM. :faint:

wow juz did a 150km/h ride with the msia sparks...

stock msia spark are very fast... faster than those "heavily" mod msia sparks...lol

dun noe y the sudden increase in power....

I change to a pair of chrome throttle grips with throttle tube...

it make twisting the throttle so much easier & faster mayb....

i was stunned at the speed...lol

gt it over ebay when sourching for parts for my sporty....

so gt 2 sets & put 1 set to test on my spark...lol

Any idea what cause the slight increase??

the diameter of the throttle tube seem similar but the turning radius confirm gt diff...

hmm.....
