Because the 200i although class under 200 but is actually 205.3cc so 2B cannot ride cause only license up to 200cc only, then 2A is 201cc to 400cc oic

Dear all, thanks as my dad able to solved the problem after he send the bike to workshop...

 

The belt is causing the light blinks....

 

After he replaced the belt...the light goes off...but there were squeeching sound when the bike moves off...the mech told him that the belt is new. Need to season it first.

 

Thanks for the advice.

Belt squeal!? This is the 1st time i heard in my 9 years of scootering that belt squeal after changing. I have changed my piaggio belt 7 times and it never once squeal after changing. Hmmm maybe it does squeal on other brands of scooter. Anyone reading this heard of this or have this symptoms after a belt change?

Actually i would prefer real carbon graphite parts compared to faux carbon graphics, although the price would be much more expensive.

Real carbon graphite for the piece below the meter dash would be luxurious or maybe a walnut finish will give it an expensive feel like in a Jaguar or Mercedes ha ha ha.

Ya...i was flabbergasted when I hear that too..but now there are no more sound coming out. I believe everything is in order.

Especially it's so rare no body notice. Even if people see they can't remember. Even if people can remember they don't know the brand, which bike shop sells and further more they think that Taiwan scoot not as reliable like Japanese but infact it's just as reliable. Now with the dink and downtown, hopefully it will last around to make people notice it presence and reliability.

Now with the MaxSym 400 coming out and 6 out of 12 units are already booked sales of downtown maybe affected ha ha hopefully not cause it's still a balanced class in terms of fuel economy and weight. As a 300cc yes it suffers in Singapore especially the mentality of Singaporean is to get to mostest for the leastest. So 400cc seems more logical than a 300cc. There are of course advantages and disadvantages of having a 300cc. 300cc lighter, agility pick up. 400cc though more power but are heavier but more stable.

At the moment MaxSym is a very new class of 400cc from SYM and the 600cc is due for sale soon after the 400cc, in my opinion its still in the teething stages and problems will be corrected with future updated version. So getting a totally new design scooter may or may not be the best thing. It all depends what you are willing to forgo. On the other hand Kymco Downtown 300i has gone through a few updated version already and the latest stock has all the improved parts making it even more reliable and better running then the previous model

Squeeching sound might occur when there is wear and tear on the Face Comp (the two plate). It is the same as when you change the drive chain and not the sprockets, there will be sound.

 

From my knowledge KYMCO scooter do not equip with belt change warning light.

Was Surprise that Downtown do not have a voltmeter function on the dash meter like the Gilera Nexus 300i. Basic function like Voltmeter to me is like a minimum requirement and it's a very important function too. On my skipper, it was a standard issue, it saved me once when i noticed that the battery was not charging, hence quickly rode to a bike shop to get the rectifier replace. The Gilera Nexus even have Average fuel consumption, Max speed, Average Speed thought it's pretty useless but it's fun to have. But on the downtown got one function which the Nexus don't have and that is the Trip A and B meter can check distance traveled.

 

I am now looking for a good volt meter that i can install on my ride. May i know where i can get a voltmeter, preferably a good one that can withstand heat like sun and water resistant like rain. Any suggestion welcome be good or bad cheap or expensive, can always look look ha ha. Thanks in advance

Downtown 300i had a voltmeter that is not a display type.

 

Once your voltage drop below 12V the indicator at the dashboard will show a sign of a battery in "RED".

Funny? Now no more turbo effect (no pillion). Current mileage 200km only. Maybe must change oil? With pillion feel like not enough power, especially from 80km/h to 100km/h when WOT (wide open throttle) feel the need for more explosive power (I think I asking too much from a 300cc), ha ha still better than my 150cc can forget about overtaking.

Hope after run it can be close to V6 engine. V6 power very shiok also, especially when the engine revs go higher, just like turbo also

Keyless system have a problem when your battery is weak. You can't operate the seat you can't change the battery.

 

KYMCO realise this problem and currently stop production on the keyless system and in future you can enhance it.
