I used chiong super4 headlight and universal headlight mounts. Got it done at Hua Chin (bukit batok). total cost 180+. together with front signals. also super 4 ones. Yea its expensive but it changes the way the bike looks. IMO the alien head that comes with the stock YBR destroys the look of the bike. Its fugly. Marketed in china. brazil and europe got the round headlight models.

Aww.. thanks... I've seen a nicely done YBR too. Cafe racer style. spokey wheels, flat aftermarket handlebars, and round headlamp too.

Haha. too bad its illegal or else would have swap the footrest to RXZ footrest.

Anyone else modded their YBR ?

Guys,

I just bought a YBR 2012 model.

Just 1 question:

The petrol fuel control knob should be pointing 'up' or 'down' for the petrol?? (Not the reserve fuel compartment)

Thank you!

Down for 'ON', up for 'RESERVE' and middle to 'OFF'.

My bike problem again. I never ride for like weeks. Only ride like 1 time in 2 week. Also never start. Then when i want to start riding again, i use battery charger to charge the battery with a trickle charger for 1 full day then i leave the bike alone for another day. When i electric start the bike, cannot. I hear a very weak struggling cranking sound, the neutral light become so damn dim. But when i kickstart, 1-2 time it can start.

After riding for a few mins, i turn off engine and on back, electric start work fine. However, when i leave the bike parked for like 7 hours like today, the electric start like super weak, neutral light also weak. Kickstart 1 time then can easily start. Basically, if i leave the bike engine off for long hours, cannot electric start. Have to kick start. When my engine is on also, it doesnt sound too good. Even my dad can hear the engine sound doesnt sound good. Basically engine sounds 'weak' and somewhat irregular. Not strong.

Could it be the magnetic coil? The last time i changed it was in January 2011. Before that it was changed in March 2009. So it lasted 1 year 10 months before it was changed. So now 1 year 10 months again, must change again ah? Haha...

it could be magneto coil. But most likely it is a failing battery dude. Change the battery first. My bet is on the battery cause After riding for a few mins, u turn off engine and on back, electric start work fine. You might have blown the battery by over-charging it FOR A FULL DAY???

Your engine sounds weak because the weak voltage causes it to run rich. No power too. If you turn on signal light the engine will have on and off buzzing sound too.

1) My battery charger is a trickle charger. CTEK XS800. Basically there is no such thing as overcharge in this baby. You can leave this charger to the battery for months at a time with no detrimental effects.

2) The battery is less than a year old. The older one spoil like early this year. Usual wear and tear la.

3) When i turn on the signal light, the engine have nothing wrong. No sound, nothing.

Ideas bro?

I wouldnt believe what the charger says on the box! Like charging ur laptop for a full day like that. Sometimes will overheat.

Still battery is main suspect. Highly, cause it'll charge to near full. can electric start. than lose its charge over a few hours. Oh yes. Do check if your connection points are properly connected after u charged. It might be leaking juice somewhere too. (not properly grounded)

Charging a laptop battery and charging a bike battery are 2 almost totally different things. Lithium ion has its own rules. Anyway, i've had this charger for years. I have plugged in the battery to the charger for weeks also no prob. Not only this battery but other batteries. Oh well. I need to buy/borrow a voltmeter. I've always wanted one for everything.

I strongly suspect that its the magneto coil. Why? I have gone through the same problem twice before. Second possible reason would be i think like what you said, an electrical leak. One push of the starter button and the neutral light almost goes blank. Super dim. Hmm... I wonder what @yinghai has to say... :cheeky:

Nah, you'll find this page very useful: http://125ccbikeclub.awardspace.co.uk/basic_fault_finding.htm#Battery

Its a page dedicated to ybr and cg 125. It author surely says you can overcharge your battery even though its a automatic charger. Most importantly, its quite detailed how to troubleshoot your bike problem. Whether its battery or magneto coil or wiring.

This is a good read bro. But i do not think its applicable to my problem.

1) Once i hit the electrical start, yes, engine barely turns. But once i put my finger off the button, i horn, lights, everything all is very loud and strong. I can do this for many more times and i am able to do this, suggesting that the battery still has plenty of charge.

2) I can kickstart 1 time or push start easily. Its just that the electric start cannot turn the engine. ie: The starter motor can barely turn.

3) I have 2 starter motors. My older one and my newer one. Both also exactly the same problem.

I'm left with testing with a volt meter. Like i said before, i suspect its the coil or there is a short when i press the electric start button. You got voltmeter?

EDIT: When i hit the electric start, there is a buzzing sound. After i ride for 10 mins and turn of and on the engine, electric start works fine. If i leave the bike for hours after a 40 minute ride, same thing, buzzing noise, engine cannot start, starter motor never turns.

I dont have la.. But my workplace have. You can come find me la. We swap out the battery and see if its battery anot also can. Just last month I Kena all the same symtoms as you la. can high beam can loud horn just cannot start. i thought coil or starter motor chui already. Just change battery everything ok. Your starter motor neeeds alot of juice to crank de. You can try this. Press and hold the starter button for long. If later your lights get dimmer alot or horn squeak, you know its battery related. Alot of difference from press and release.

1)Your said your engine sounds weak right? Cant be startor already mah..

2)If coil spoil hor. Your battery wont even charge till can let you electric start la. wont even charge till can use horn or lights lor.

3)If battery can charge till can electric start. But lose the charge after 10mins. It means your battery is not holding charge.

4)Its also possible your bike's wiring is screwed up somewhere. never ground properly or no fuse installed. Cause your bike always electric got problem.

From this we can eliminate stator motor and coil from your possible problems. Left with battery and wiring. check both.

your batteries all died young. maybe due to always kena short from bad wiring. check ur wires first. before the battery imo. check got fuse installed anot. got relay installed anot for ur lights. espeacially if u always on main headlight when riding. If your bulb eats alot of juice type yet not relay also bad for battery hor. Never ground properly also will kena short frequently.

No matter how much you charge if your water battery dry up and your plates crystallize.. Theres no way you can charge over 1ah.. Your trickle can read 12v and stop charging at any amp hour capacity.. It all takes a certain voltage to stop the charger.. The charger doesnt read capacity to determine full charge but voltage.. The most common problem of weak charging in ybr is bcos people always use the wrong bulb.. Make sure u are using 35w bulb and not 55w..
