I am planning to go to Cameron Highland around June. Just me and my gf. single bike. Was advised to avoid entering KL and go via Shah Alam or KLIA route.

saw the gps map on my pc, the auto-routing system leading me to the heart of KL.

Is the recommendable route is E6 and then E35 and join back to the NSH?

The route back to sg, wad are the signage names to look out for? Was led by an experience friend a few times but dun really noe the route. Tried so hard to keep up and no chance to see the route number on the way back to sg. :p

Thanks in advance

Some exit number to remember:

Exit 214 (Towards KLIA)

Exit 132 (Old route to Cameron Highlands)

Exit 135 (New route to Cameron Highlands)

If you are taking Exit 135 then maybe you want to pay a visit to Kellie's Castle at Batu Gajah.

What time are you planning to leave for CH? If you could reach Sg. Besi toll before 6am, then maybe you want to try to cut across KL instead of taking KLIA.

About the way back, it will be pretty straight forward. Just follow the sign leading you to the Highway towards Kuala Lumpur. Then same thing, look out for the sign to KLIA...

monoworld, i tried both the Exit 214 method n 'KL route'.

i prefer the KL route.

actually its very easy. after Sungei Besi toll, look out for "Ipoh/Kuantan" exit.

its directly under a flyover, u follow this road, and u will end up at Sungei Besi R&R.

once u exit, just follow direction of Ipoh, DO NOT go towards Kuantan. hehe.

it is a very much shorter route, compared to "Exit 214".

(verified by a seasoned tour bus driver sgp-hatyai, hehe. i cnt remember how much savings for toll if driving.)

what i can vaguely remember, i go onto Lebuhraya Mahameru. the Last petrol stn would be Shell b4 the toll booth to join back the highway to Ipoh.

however, do not take the "KL route" during their office hours.

last year, on my return journey frm hatyai, i took the KL route & got stuck in very bad traffic at ard 6pm on a Saturday. wah lau, its no fun. even tho u're on 2wheels and can squeeze thru traffic, its very taxing cos u're already tired frm the journey. sumore tat time i had a big bagster bag on tank with pillion. sheesh.

if u set off 2-3am, by the time reach Seremban R&R, i tink heavy traffic would already build up for the morning jam towards KL.

Cameron Highlands itself very boring. stay at Tanah Rata better. and lastly, pls dun drive up to CH wen hours of darkness. cheers :)

mamu, thanks for the advice.

any recommendation for the tanah rata lodgings? bike security, is it bad there?

Check out Irish Hotel around Brinchang Town area. It is relatively inexpensive (approx RM88 in low season) and your bike can be parked just in front of the hotel lobby area.

Camerons is a relatively safe place, despite tourist traffic and abuse.

Expect what you pay for and you would be fine... it is afterall, just an average family hotel.

A nice cool ten min walk into town for food....

Check prices before ordering, some of the restaurants could cause you to sell your exhaust system to pay for the bill! :faint:

If u need more details, feel free to PM me.

Have a good trip and ride safe....
